Rose raised a glass. "It's been a year, Doctor."
A deep silence greeted her.
Rose sighed and lowered the glass. She stared at the stark white wall.
"I still miss you."
Rose adjusted the rug she was sitting on.
"I got a promotion the other day. I saved the world again, by myself this time. There was this spider and this really annoying, I mean really, really annoying, woman. Turns out the centre of this Earth is a spider's web."
Rose drained her glass.
"Mickey's doing well. He's gettin' married soon. Too a doctor no less. They're good together, him and Martha. And Mum had the baby, a little girl. Mum called her Gardenia. Dad said he wouldn't mind having a whole florist shop, so long as she doesn't name any boys after flowers. Jake's got himself a new boyfriend too. He's my partner actually, a man named Ianto."
Rose sighed again and rubbed her temples. "Why am I doing this? You won't be there."
Rose stood up and swept up the rug on the floor. She rested a hand on the wall.
"I love you, Doctor. I'll see you next year."
