Ain't Meant to Be:
I am the daughter of evil and he is a happy changeling. These types don't mix. I've tried to find other people but they never worked. I once had a small crush on Robin but now he is more like a brother to me. Beastboy is never mad. He is always happy. Beastboy never understands. He is always confused. But for some reason he is perfect. I would never admit to anyone how I feel about him. I always tell myself not to read his mind. But I can't help it. He does like me back. But it's not meant to be like this. There was a knock on my door.
"Raven? I need your help!" I opened my door to find Beastboy tangles in string. Normally I would ignore him but since I was just thinking about us, (if there is an us) I helped him.
"Thanks Rae. I owe you one." He smiled at me and I starred back. He didn't leave.
"Do you need something?" I said in my monotone voice.
"It's more like a question." My heart started to race.
"Yes?"
"Would you like to...goonadatewithme?" I blinked.
"Huh?"
"Would you like to go on a date with me? Tonight?" I blinked again.
"Beastboy..."
"I know, I know. It ain't meant to be but-"
"Beastboy."
"What?"
"Don't read my diary."
"I'm sorry but it was on the counter and it was open and-"
"Beastboy. I would never do that."
"I know. So what do you say? On the date."
I glanced at the clock. 6:23. "Yes."
"Yes?"
"Was that the answer you wanted?"
"Was that the answer you gave?"
"Yes."
"Then yes. I will go on a date with you...tomorrow."
"Cool. I'll see you in the morning." I shut the door. On the other side was Beastboy hooting and hollering about he and I have our first date tomorrow. On this side of the door was me. Smiling about Beastboy how was hooting and hollering about how he and I have our first date.
I came home from our date. He brought me to a poetry reading. I knew he didn't like it but he sat through the whole thing without complaining which made it 10x better. We got into the living room and sat on the couch.
"But they don't have to be so dark. So people could right a happy poem about butterflies." But Beastboy did start complaining after we left.
"Then write one."
"Write one?"
"Yeah so next time you bring me on a date you can share one about butterflies." He smiled and stepped forward. I did the same. He lowered himself and kissed me slowly on the lips. Ain't meant to be. It ain't meant to be ran through my mind. But I ignored it because it is meant to be.
