Hey Fairy Tail fans! Not feeling well today but still wanted to write something quick and easy. Just for funsies :) Let me know your own predictions for the next few episodes of Fairy Tail and we'll see how this one compares!
Gray panted as he caught his breath, trying to feel every wound that had been inflicted on his body. His body felt blackened, struggling to pump blood through the frozen wounds that had been scattered across his body. Invel had put up a fight, had done damage to his body that he knew would probably scar, but the wound that slashed across his moral compass would not so easily repair. He looked back at his friends, eyes still wide as he watched the ice slowly beginning to fade into the sinking light. A shaky breath was drawn through his body as his eyes sunk onto the dragon slayer, the fire in his body melting his body faster than the rest.
He stood straight and took the steps in front of him, watching his old friend for a few moments as the ice melted across his pink hair, his prison cracking away at his hands. For the briefest of moments, he was vulnerable. Gray gripped his hands tightly. He saw his friend, but the demon-slayer saw a target. His teeth gritted, the second ticking by as he saw the dragon slayer finally able to blink again, his chest freeing enough to let breath back into his lungs.
As Natsu opened his mouth to speak, Gray's hand pushed against his throat and held him there. Confused, Natsu let out the smallest of gasps, trying to gather his instincts into a punch back. Gray leaned in and whispered a simple word. "END." The look on Gray's face made Natsu's hand loosen, knowing he couldn't strike back. He tried to grip the hand that held onto him and pry it away, but fight had left him in the terrifying gaze that his friend was giving him. He didn't understand it himself, it was only a revelation Zeref had given him a few short hours earlier, and he had yet to try and work out how it was even possible. He wanted to doubt it, but right now he had nothing to even defend himself. Gray had been clear from the start that END was the only thing he wanted, and his eyes were now pinned on their target, like a wild beast with pray in front of him.
The darkness crept up the demon-slayers body, twisting across his muscles and filling in any wounds that had been created by Invel. He could control the darkness, but only because the demon and Gray had both wanted the same thing. Now one of his eyes gleamed a dangerous red, beginning to spread to the other.
It was Gray that pushed Natsu back suddenly, not the demon. He was almost a completely black shape standing over Natsu now, his bright white eyes shining a bloodthirsty red iris, but the other remained black and almost a look of sorrow. He looked down at Natsu, twisted by disappointment, disgust and a manic pleasure that he had finally found his enemy. Gray gritted his teeth, however. "Natsu," he reminded himself.
Natsu looked up at him, for the first time in his life actually feeling afraid of Gray. It wasn't that he didn't think he was stronger than him, but at that moment he wasn't sure if they fought if both of them could have survived. He was afraid that he didn't want to choose this fight. Zeref was still out, his companions were still melting around them and finally starting to come back to consciousness. He had kept Zeref's words a secret, not only to prevent this from happening, but to protect his friends from having to choose between seeing him as Natsu or END.
Gray narrowed his eyes, aware that the faces around them were all starting to see with their frozen eyes once more. "I'm going to the west to help the fight there. Survive until then, Natsu. When this is all over, I want to kill you myself," he said, his voice edging on demonic as he disappeared before any of them had the warmth to move after him.
