Jealousy
"Hi." Jackie said cheerfully as she walked in the door after work.
"Hey." Nick answered quietly.
Nick had to work several hours overtime at the lab and it had been a very long shift.
"Bad day?" Jackie asked as she sat down on the couch next to him.
"That's an understatement." He mumbled.
"What happened?" Jackie asked.
"People are monsters Jacks." He answered.
"Want to talk about it?" She offered as she took his hand.
"No." He responded, he wanted to forget about what he saw last night, not talk about it and make himself focus on it more.
"I'm sorry." She told him as she gave his hand a gentle squeeze, she noticed the bags under his eyes, he looked completely spent.
"Are turkey sandwiches and a bowl of soup good for dinner?" She asked.
"I'm not hungry hon." He told her.
"You have to eat."
"I know I should eat but right now all I want is to take a shower and go to bed."
"Alright." Jackie said giving up.
After he got out of the shower he returned and sat down next to her on the couch.
"Feeling a little better?"
"A little." He responded.
"Want dinner now?"
"Yeah, I think I'll just have a sandwich. Do you want one?"
"Yeah, I'll make them." Jackie told him.
"I'll do it." He said as he got off the couch and went into the kitchen. After a few minutes, he came back carrying two plates.
"Thanks hon." She told him.
They ate their dinner in mostly silence, Nick didn't feel like talking about his day or about anything really.
"Want to watch an episode of MacGyver?" Jackie asked after they had finished their sandwiches, they were a couple weeks behind and she wanted to get caught up.
"No sweetie, I think I'll just call it a night, sorry." He told her.
"No problem, do you mind if I watch an episode of it though, and you can watch it one of these days before I get home from work?"
"I don't know, I don't know if I want you watching it by yourself, you will ogle too much over Jack Dalton." He told her with a playful smile.
She laughed.
"What are you talking about? I don't even like Jack Dalton." She replied trying to sound innocent but sounding anything but.
"Yeah, right." Nick said unconvinced.
She laughed.
He smiled.
"Goodnight Jacks."
"Goodnight Nicky."
He leaned over and kissed her before he went up the stairs to bed.
After he had gone to bed she grabbed the remote, she scrolled through the DVR until she found MacGyver and then clicked on the episode she wanted.
Sorry Nicky but I'm watching it, you can't get too upset though, I know damn well that Joey is so not your favorite character on Friends, I'm pretty sure you would divorce me if you could get with Rachel. Jackie thought as she started the show with very little if any remorse!
She enjoyed watching it and she tried not to focus too much on Jack Dalton.
