The Last Attempt
Summary: "Jellal, can I kiss you?" "What? Why?" "Because the world's ending and I haven't had my first kiss yet." "Why me?" Lucy shrugged, "Cause you're the only one here with me." And because this was her last attempt to tell him that she loved him, that's why.
A/N: To be honest, I'm not a fond of drabbles. I find them too short and too... well... I just don't enjoy short stories. However, this popped in my mind earlier. I forgot how it popped in but I figured that I would give it a shot. I asked Ella to read it and she liked it.
WARNING: This drabble was not beta read, I only proofread this.
Genre: Romance and Friendship, maybe a little Tragedy.
DISCLAIMER: I do not own Fairy Tail, Hiro Mashima does.
She watched as people ran forward, holding swords as they battled against the devils. God against evil. She never thought that Armageddon would really happen. And now here she was, preparing for the front lines to replace a few fallen soldiers.
She swallowed a lump in her throat, "Jellal, can I kiss you?"
"What?" The said man asked, baffled. He stared wide-eyed at Lucy who was looking at the battlefield with distant eyes, "Why?"
"Because the world's ending and I haven't even had my first kiss yet," Lucy mumbled sadly, sighing, "I didn't guess that I would die young."
Jellal chuckled nervously, "You're over-thinking too much, we might win, you know?"
"Whatever, just please, can I kiss you?"
The bluenette's jaw dropped, "Why me?"
Lucy shrugged, "'Cause you're the only one here with me."
"Lucy..." Jellal closed his eyes, "I just... I can't."
"Please?" Lucy frowned, "For me?"
The bluenette sighed and he shrugged, "Fine, but just one kiss-" His words were muffled as Lucy pulled him towards her, planting a soft, gentle and passionate kiss on his lips. He leaned back and his cheeks flushed, "W-What the..."
Lucy grinned and she turned around, her back facing Jellal. Unnoticeable tears slid down her cheeks and she laughed, "Goodbye... Jellal."
Jellal's eyes widened as he tried to reach out for her but he was too late, she was already running on the battlefield, her bow and arrow drawn out. He cried out, "LUCY!"
Once more, he heard her laugh.
"I love you! Remember that! No one can take that away from you!"
And he'd never forget that.
A/N: So, yes, technically, Lucy knew she was going to die in the battlefield. I mean, it was so obvious to her. She was going to be in the frontlines and she had no sword - unless she picked up a forgotten one on the ground. I think I know how I thought of this. Well, you see, I was originally Lucy and I was telling that to someone, I won't tell who, haha :D I hope you liked the drabble and I'm sorry if it's short. Like Ella said, drabbles are meant to be short.
