Day 3: First Time

"Rachel, you didn't have to do this.."
Quinn stared down at the little strip of white paper in her hands. Reading all of the miniscule and bold text. Three words engraved themselves into her mind.
New York City.
All alone, with her girlfriend.
On Christmas.
In New York City.

And for the first time in her life, Quinn Fabray couldn't be any happier.

Time Square was exactly how Rachel Berry remembered it. Bright, packed, and a bit grungy. Alright, maybe more than a bit grungy, but at least this time it was covered with fluffy, white snow. Better than the dirty, black slush that Lima so kindly provided it's citizens. Rachel inhaled a deep breath of the New York City air. It was perfect. It felt like home. But that wasn't ultimate perfection, no. Ultimate perfection was Quinn Fabray, holding her own mittened hand in Rachel's gloved one. Quinn Fabray with her pink nose, rosy cheeks, and starbucks in one hand. Quinn Fabray with her adorable white beanie, calming the wreck of hair that lay underneath.

"I love you, Charlie."

"Charlie...? My name's Quinn. Not Charlie."

"But, you're Charlie."

Quinn looked at her girlfriend skeptically, eyebrow arched and hazel eyes full of question. But seeing Rachel Berry give her 1000 watt smile calmed any doubts about her faithfulness. Rachel had her reasons. Quinn trusted her. She shrugged, kissing her adorable girlfriend on the cheek and grinning.

"I love you too."

Even at a swanky New York City cafe, where at least 100 socialites filled the room, Rachel seemed to take center stage. All eyes were glued to her, dressed in a deep red cocktail dress, her long brown locks curling down her back. She was beautiful. But all Rachel could see was Quinn. For once, all eyes weren't on Quinn. Yeah, maybe of few guys checked her out, but nothing compared to Rachel.

"All eyes are on you babe." Quinn murmured.

"Yeah, that doesn't matter, because all I see is you."

Rachel disappeared into the crowd, leaving Quinn rather bewildered. Where had the little elf pranced off to now?

There she is.

Rachel Berry had taken the stage, standing at the mic and nodding at the pianist in the corner. He'd be nothing compared to Brad. Brad had helped Rachel become the star that she was today. The man behind the piano began playing a familiar melody, and Rachel scanned the crowd, before bright brown eyes landed on Quinn. She winked softly, and then let her voice make jaws drop.

"Last Christmas,
I gave you my heart.
But the very next day,
You gave it away.
This year, to save me from tears.
I'll give it to someone special.
This one's for you, baby."

The crowd parted, looking for the stranger who Rachel was dedicating her melodious voice to. Even Quinn looked around, a smirk dancing across her lips. Damn right Rachel was dedicating a Christmas love song to her! Quinn made her way past the strangers, the ones who were clapping, the ones who were swaying, and the ones with their jaws agape. All the way to her little shining star standing on stage before her.
And never in her life had Quinn Fabray wanted to kiss Rachel Berry so much.

It truly was the perfect Christmas night.

Happy Holidays. 3
