Chapter 1: Haruno Sakura, one-sided angst

Ino was a huge idiot.

An idiotic girl with a huge pride that's been misplaced as her first priority.

And here she is now, clapping alongside her friends. A fake smile plastered on her face, while throwing confetti and flowers to the newly-weds.

"Congratulations!"

She hissed internally whenever she heard someone say that. Too bad it was in every corner, escaping everyone's lips. Why did she have to come, anyway?

"Ino!"

Oh. Yes, that's why.

Ino turned to her best friend, Sakura; who is also the new bride of this day. That wedding dress looked so stunning on her, a typical Japanese-themed wedding. The long pink hair was nicely tucked in various hair ornaments- and Ino noticed the flowers she had picked the other day for it. How it looked so good on her, making her even more beautiful than she already is, her best friend, her best rival.

Sakura threw herself in Ino's arms, squealing happily and tears prickling at the side of her eyes.

"This is probably the best day of my life!"

"Oh, don't cry forehead girl," Ino laughed and placed her arms around the bride, "you'll ruin your makeup!"

"You're always here to fix it up if it happens, though!"

They proceeded to have a little chit chat- well, it was mostly Sakura talking on and on about how nervous she was when she walked down that aisle. Talking about how she was so nervous in taking Sasuke's hands as the Hokage read the vows. Talking about how nervous she was when she had to lean and kiss him.

Ino couldn't even hear her anymore. She was just staring at her jade-green eyes, sparkling a million stars that she hasn't seen in a long time. That reminded her, she saw those the first time when Ino had saved Sakura when they were children. Then, for a second time, that time where Sakura had decided to stand up for herself.

Moreover, it hit her like lightning; that was the day she knew, that the stars in her jade-green eyes won't be shining towards her anymore. That spark that sent fuzzy feelings in her gut.

Ah, shit. She wanted to cry; thankfully her pride shoved it aside.

When Sakura had been called by the other girls to congratuale her and talk about the wedding, she waved to Ino and walked away.

The blonde just stood there, smiling as Sakura's wedding veils from behind danced with the wind. She watched Sakura and Sasuke link arms and smile at each-other with such love and care.

"If I were to be more honest," Ino whispered to no one but herself, careful not to alert any open ears, "I would have stopped this wedding."

And when no one - not even the wind - is watching, her pride gets pushed away for a few seconds to make room for sadness and make her shed but a single tear.

"If I were to be more honest to myself, I would have said I loved you, Sakura. I have always did."
