Ciel and Sebastian has been dating a month, and Ciel had an odd thought, he had a while back on how a demon's' heartbeat sounds like. He brushed the thought aside, but while he was doing work for the queen, the thought returned as it did yesterday. The knock at the door interrupted his thoughts.
"W-what?" asks Ciel, turning red his own heart thumping.
"Young master?" asks Sebastian "I have snacks for you."
Ciel calmed down, he was getting hungry, so that must be why his head is so clouded with this old thought.
"Thank you, come in." says Ciel
Sebastian does with some lemon miraine pie on his tray and a cup full of Earl Grey. He notices Ciel's red face, he comes over and feels his forehead with his free hand.
"Are you alright, young master?" asks Sebastian
"I-I'm fine, Sebastian, why?" asks Ciel, confused trying to calm down
"You're face is turning beet red." says Sebastian
"It's hot in here." says Ciel
Which it was hot but that wasn't the reason that he was red, but Sebastian nods.
"I'll open the window then while you eat the lemon miraine pie." says Sebastian
"Thank you" says Ciel
Sebastian serves him the pie and the tea and goes behind Ciel and cracks the window.
"Thank you" says Ciel
"Your welcome. Will there be anything else?" asks Sebastian
"No." says Ciel
"Alright." says Sebastian
He goes to excuse himself and leave when he hears Ciel call his name.
"Yes?" asks Sebastian
"No nothing." says Ciel
"Alright" says Sebastian
He leaves, wondering what it was that Ciel wanted, Ciel goes back to eating and the thought went away. However, later that day the thoughts returned and it was way past dinner, it was actually almost time for bed. He didn't know why the thought would come and go from time to time. It really confused him, he let Sebastian get him ready for bed and hummed when Sebastian brought him in for a kiss.
"You want to go out tomorrow?" asks Sebastian
Unlike the usual "yes" or "not tomorrow" he gives him, he just nods.
"Are you alright?" asks Sebastian
"Yes. Just tired." says Ciel
"Alright. Sleep well." says Sebastian
"Good night, Sebastian." says Ciel
"Good night." says Sebastian
He leaves and goes to his room to read his book, thinking the young earl is fast asleep. However, Ciel isn't sleeping, he can't sleep the thought is bothering him. He decides to go up to Sebastian's room and sneaks in, Sebastian looks up and sees him. Ciel climbs up on the bed and Sebastian sits up so he can.
"Sebastian." says Ciel, turning red
"Yes?" asks Sebastian
Ciel looks up at him and turns a darker red than earlier.
"Let me listen to your heart." says Ciel
Sebastian smiles and looks down at him as Ciel tries to calm down, but he looks adorable like that. Though he wouldn't say so, instead he pats his chest gently to say yes. Ciel climbs up to Sebastian gently and settles against his chest listening to the gentle thump of the his heartbeat, he feels Sebastian wrap a loose arm around him so he won't fall. Ciel closes his eyes and listens to his demon's heart, the gentle thumping soothes him, he yawns and loosely wraps his arms around Sebastian's waist. Sebastian smiles, looking down at the small body pressed against his body, Ciel cuddles in so he can listen to this comforting sound better and Sebastian snuggles him, this sound fascinates him and lulls him asleep, letting Sebastian watch him. The only regret Ciel has is not listening to this soothing beat sooner.
