"Passengers boarding flight 204 to America, please proceed to gate E2-14 for boarding immediately. Thank You."
Flight 204. That was my flight. But my arms were reluctant to let go of the fragile girl I was holding, my feet refusing to carry me towards the gate, away from the only female in my life. She had been the one who had helped me through after I'd ran away from the excuse for a family I had and she had supported me while I suffered, trying to fit in with my foster family.
"Passengers boarding flight 204 to America, please proceed to gate E2-14 for boarding immediately. Thank You."
My mind signaled for me to move, but my body ignored it. My lips searched for hers and met in a passionate kiss. I wanted time to stop, to leave us be.
"Passengers boarding flight 204 to America, please proceed to gate E2-14 for boarding immediately. Thank You."
She broke the kiss and looked into my eyes. Her eyes matched her hair perfectly, a beautiful shade of brown. I stoked her hair, which she had let down specially for me, knowing that I'd always hated her plaits.
"Passengers boarding flight 204 to America, please proceed to gate E2-14 for boarding immediately. Thank You."
"Masaharu, go, America is only one phone call away you know." Her voice was cheerful but tears were gathering in her eyes. "Quickly, Haru, Yagyuu-senpai will be waiting." She pushed me towards the gate and gave a small wave.
"Passengers boarding flight 204 to America, please proceed to gate E2-14 for boarding immediately. Thank You."
I turned around and started walking trying to hide the tears that were falling freely. I looked back one last time and shouted, "Sakuno, I love you. Just know that you'll always stay in my heart." She smiled and shouted back a reply.
"Passengers boarding flight 204 to America, please proceed to gate E2-14 for boarding immediately. Thank You."
Her reply was obscured by the announcement. Still I walked on, deciding that it was better not to know. She would stay in my heart, but as long as she was happy, I did not have to stay in hers.
"Passengers boarding flight 204 to America, please proceed to gate E2-14 for boarding immediately. Thank You."
I walked through the gate and into the plane, finally seating myself next to Hiroshi. I smirked, trying to act nonchalant. He saw through it as usual. "Masaharu, she loves you as much as you love her. She'll be yours…" I cut him short. "No, she doesn't have to be. I know she used to love Echizen and if she goes back to him, I won't do anything. But if he lets a single worry darken her smile, then I'll kill him and make him regret in hell."
"Hello, this is your pilot Hayashi Heiji. The plane will be will be lifiting off soon, so please put on your seatbelts and watch the safety video on screen. Thank You."
I looked out of the window one last time and muttered the last goodbye I would have to say to Sakuno. True, America was only a phone call away, but if she finds happiness with another, I decided to make it an ocean away again. I knew I could do that. Because I love her.
