A/N: This is the third Shika/Tema ficlet I've written as of date. Not only is this one my favorite, but it was also the easiest to write, by far. And guess what? This one also has a somewhat happy ending to it- a first for me since I love angsty fics!
The rain softly pelted at her feet as she walked by. Not since he had been her escort for the Chuunin exams; had she last heard a word from him.
Her feet lead her to the hill where they would watch the clouds together. Though three years younger than she, he would cradle her between his arms where they would fall asleep with one another.
She removed the fan from her back and gently set it beside her as she laid down. She pushed her moist bangs away from her eyes and let out a soft sigh. Temari tilted back her head and glanced up to the sky. It was far too stormy of a night to be able to see the clouds with any decency. She leaned herself down to the ground, shivering at the first touch of her bare arms against the drenched ground.
"I had a feeling you'd be here. Troublesome woman, making me come out here in the rain," he mumbled under his breath. Already knowing who it was, Temari didn't feel the need to move at all, not even as he made his way closer to her.
When he was finally standing above where Temari's head was lying, she opened her eyes and looked up to him. The only difference three years had on him was his height. When she thought about it, she realized she hadn't changed much either. Maybe they had more in common than each of them lead on to.
"You're going to catch cold if you stay like that," he addressed, commenting on her naked arms. "Well then, you're just going to have to warm them up for me, won't you?" she replied with a smirk. He responded with a simple "Hmm," before sitting down and cradling Temari in his arms, just like how it used to be. She angled her head back onto his shoulder and they both fell asleep, letting the rain sing them a lullaby.
