UMBRELLA

"At last! We're done!", Ichigo said after finishing their group project around 8:30 that night.

"Hey, guys! Have to go now! See ya tomorrow!", he told his group mates.

"Bye fella!", they said.

Upon arriving home…

"I'm home!!! Is dinner ready?", he asked his sisters, Karin and Yuzu.

"Nah.", Karin replied.

"Whaaat?!!! It's already past 8 and dinner's not yet ready?!"

"There's nothing on the fridge.", Yuzu told him.

"And dad didn't not leave us money before he left. That's why we waited for you. Better go to the market now! We're damn starving to death!", Karin said.

"Here's the money. Go to the market, the two of you.", he commanded them.

"But Ichigo! You're the eldest! It's your responsibility to go to the market!", Yuzu told him.

"Maybe I could ask Rukia if she can go to the market instead of me.", he thought with a big grin.

"Alright, alright. I'll go. I'll just change my clothes.", he told them.

"Ok. Better hurry up, Ichigo. Before the market close.", says Karin.

Ichigo went to his room.

"Ruki –", he said while opening the cabinet where Rukia use to sleep.

"What?!", Kon answered.

"Have you seen Rukia?", he asked.

"No, I haven't.", Kon replied.

"Damn! Where is she? Whew. Then I guess, I'll have to go to the market now.", he said to himself then headed to the market.

After going to the market, and while heading home, the rain suddenly pours.

"Damn it! What a luck! I don't even have an umbrella!", he said. "Good thing there's a waiting she –", before even finishing his sentence, he saw Rukia there.

"Ru – Rukia?", he said.

"Oh, Ichigo.", Rukia replied.

"What are you doing here?"

"Just exploring the place. The town's beautiful at night.", She told him.

"Yes it is.", Ichigo answered.

"What's that?", she asked referring to what Ichigo has bought.

"This? Food. I bought this from the market.", he answered.

"You mean, you haven't eaten your dinner yet?"

"Yeah."

"Even your sisters?"

"Yes. Even them. Dad didn't leave them money when he left that's why they waited until I get home."

"Oh. I see. Then why don't you go home now? Your sisters must be very hungry."

"Duh?! Rukia?! With this rain? I don't have an umbrella and I don't want to get wet."

"I have. Take this."

"Whoah. I'll go now, I suppose. Aren't you coming with me?", he asked Rukia.

"I think I'll go with you."

"Come on now!", he said and together, they went home sharing one umbrella.

They have been silent while walking home until Ichigo stopped.

"Hey?! Why did you stop?", Rukia asked.

He leaned forward.

"He – hey?! What are you doing?!", Rukia exclaimed.

Then he reached for her face. They didn't even notice that their umbrella fell. Under the rain, they closed their eyes and their lips met.
