There are no specific pairings in the story, so whoever the girl he's talking to is your choice, but only because I couldn't decide on a specific pairing.

"W-Wait, Minato..."

He stopped.

"..."

He hoped. He hoped she wouldn't say it. He knew it was going to hurt to see her so...

"Please...Don't...D-don't go...at least, not yet..."

Her voice was shaky. He turned to face her, and saw her on the verge of tears.

"I'm...Sorry. But I can't let this world die. Especially since it was where I met you."

"M-M-Minato..." She was crying now. She tried to hold it back, but to no avail.

"Please. Stop crying...please..." He couldn't help it. He just couldn't. He had to protect this broken world. And now they were destined to be star-crossed lovers. Him protecting the world for all eternity, and her living on without him, never seeing him again.

He smiled. That was how he saw it in the begining, right? Them being star-crossed lovers? He was just some orphan, while she was a somebody. She was going to be something much better than he'll ever be. The odds that they would've met and fallen in love were slim and nearly nonexistent, but due to the circumstances...

She ran up to him and gave him a hug.

"Minato..." she sobbed. Torn. Broken. Again.

He hugged her back and said, "I told you before, didn't I? I love you. I always will. Nothing will ever change that. Ever." She looked up at him, water glittering in her eyes, tears streaking down her face.

"I...I know. B-but, Minato, I...I..." I can't go on without you. His thoughts echoed the words she wished to say.

She looked away. Hurt. Shattered. Left behind again.

"I...won't say goodbye. Because, I believe...No...I KNOW I will see you again...Someday. I promise." he said, giving her the best reassuring, genuine, smile he could, because seeing her like this...he would do anything to make it all better, but...

"...Yes...It's a promise." he broke away from the hug and gave her a soft kiss on her lips. He then turned his back to her.

"See you around. And remember, you'll never be alone." He paused. "And...I love you."

"...I know." She smiled through the tears. "I know...I love you too."

He smiled and whispered just barely loud enough for her to hear him say, "...Forevermore...and through all eternity goes love, as they say..."

A flash of light blinded her, and the next thing she knows, he's gone. She stares a little longer feeling more at peace than when she first arrive there. She smiles softly and dries her eyes.

"Forevermore, huh?" She says to herself. She then turns around and wakes up.
