Circus Days

By Sharan McQuack, Launchpad's wife.

Based loosely on a story "That's the big top" in Ducktales aniworld ru.

Every winter, the Circus comes to winter in Duckburg.

They also put on one last round of shows before

resting for the winter. They were putting on their

last round of shows now, and Huey, Dewey and Louie

wanted to go.

But somehow Unca Scrooge wasn't going to spend his

money on the circus.

When Launchpad found this out, he offered to pull an

advertisement banner behide his plane for the circus.

After drawing attention to the sign by putting on stunts,

the circus not only paid Launchpad his usual fee, they

threw in four free passes to the circus if we bought two

tickets for ourselves.

So we did. We offered to take the boys and Webby.

"I can buy you a ticket if you want to come, Dufus." I

offered.

I'm still trying to make friends with that kid. He resents me

for marrying "his" Launchpad.

"No need. He can have mine. I hate clowns." Webby put in.

"You DO know they're just people in silly clothes and makeup

with an unusual job, right?" Launchpad asked her.

"Of course I know that. I still hate them." Webby replied. "I didn't

say it was logical or rational. I'm a kid. I don't have to be

logical or rational if I don't want to."

Huey, Dewey and Louie were all excited. When they found out

there was going to be an old fashioned circus parade, they

snuck out to watch it. So did a lot of other people.

When a crowd gathers, so do petty crooks: pickpockets and

purse snatchers. Sometimes they get lucky and score big.

When three such petty I'll call Tom, Dick and Harry spotted Mr. McDucks' nephews

hanging around unguarded they thought their lucky day

had come.

Tom, Dick and Harry snatched up Huey, Dewey and Louie and decided to

hold them at the circus grounds. Who going to notice three

more kids at a circus? They thought they could collect ransom

and scram.

Meanwhile, Webby was bored. She knew what the boys were

doing but had been sworn to secrecy. Webby had no one to

play with and couldn't even bug her granny lest Mrs. Beakly

ask where the boys were.

So Webby decided to brave the circus grounds, clowns or

no clowns.

Webby spotted the boys, but before she could join them,

they were snatched by the crooks. They didn't notice one

more kid at a circus, either...especially since she was a

short distance away. Webby saw what happened and

ran for help.

Then, Webby remembered her cell phone. As soon as

she was a safe distance from the crooks, she called first

her Unca Scrooge and then, Launchpad.

Launchpad jumped into his copter, flew it to the

mansion to pick up Mr. McDuck, then flew to the

circus to pick up Webby.

Webby told Launchpad where she had seen the

bad guys and Launchpad flew in that direction,

switching the copter into silent running mode.

Meanwhile, Tom, Dick and Harry had stashed the boys

in an empty tent for now. They were going

to send out a ransom message on a prepaid

cellphone when Webby spotted them, and

pointed them out to Launchpad.

Launchpad swooped his copter down on them.

Tom, Dick and Harry panicked and ran for the boys figuring they

could threaten to hurt the boys unless they, Tom,

Dick and Harry , were released.

However, Launchpad swooped down on them again, this

time bringing the tent down upon them.

Mr. McDuck, in the meantime, had contacting the cops

via his cell phone and they showed up about then.

The collapsed tent was raided and the bad

guys were found, unhurt but tangled up.

The ironic thing was, the bad guys had

put the boys in an old cage which had

kept the tent off the boys.

Tom, Dick and Harry were hauled off to jail and the

circus owners thanked Launchpad for preventing

this kidnapping before it made them look bad.

THE END.
