hey guys! here's a one shot. if you haven't seen 2x9 then don't read this! I wanted to be the first to fill in the gap. please don't mind the errors,I wrote it during my lunch break on my iPad! !
Mac's hands acted on their own accord. They had been empty for so long now they couldn't make up their mind as they caressed Will's back, then his lapels, then the soft hair at the back of his neck, before finally winding their way into his hands.
When Will pulled our of their searing kiss to rest his forehead against hers, she gripped both of his hands tightly. "You know this means you're unfired," Will breathed heavily as he got the words out. He pulled away just a little to look into her eyes.
Mac smiled back at him fully, "I know."
He grinned back at her stupidly, "We have to go on soon," he said regretfully.
Now their hands rested warmly between them and their fingers were twining together playfully. "I know," Mac repeated without breaking eye contact. She reached up and captured his mouth once more for a chaste kiss.
"Billu," she said with her lips poised just a few inches from his.
"Mmm?"
"I love you." He grinned at her like a kid on Christmas morning and brought her hands up to his mouth to kiss each knuckle.
Mac giggled as he did this. Her heart was beginning to overflow with the kind of joy it hadn't felt in well over six years. She felt younger and stronger with each kiss.
"Oh yeah, I forgot..." Will said as he held her left hand out and slipped the ring he was still holding onto it.
Mac's eyes drifted down to look at her ring adorned hand and her eyes automatically teared up. "Did you really send your agent for it?"
"Yes, but I told him exactly what to buy. This was the one I had always wanted to buy you." He leaned in for another kiss. Mac obliged him only briefly before pulling back.
"Billy, the show..." Will was relieved that she wasn't going to push him for a better explanation about the ring.
"Oh yeah...that. Let's go tell everyone and then get back on their air."
"You want to tell everyone that we're engaged?' Mac looked at him quizzically as they turned towards the door of the studio.
"I want to shout it from a mountain top." Will said as he lead her out of the studio by her hand, "plus do you think anyone is going to miss that thing?" He gave her hand a little squeeze.
"No, it would be pretty hard to miss this. I'm just surprised, is all."
Will stopped just before the door and looked her in the eye, "I spent six years pretending I wasn't madly, deeply, in love with you, and I refuse to live another minute like that."
Mac beamed at him and nodded that she understood. He kissed her one more time, maybe for luck, maybe for lust, or maybe just because he could, and opened the door to the newsroom.
