Chapter 1
ZIVA'S POV
As soon as my father said 'family' I scoffed, got up and threw my napkin down. I pulled out my phone. I knew what I had to do. Gibbs picked up.
"Gibbs, My Father killed Tyler Wilkes."
As soon as the words where out of my mouth, shots erupted from the streets. I got on the ground. Through the phone I heard tires screeching, knowing that Gibbs was turning around. I tried to get up, but pain shot through my chest. My father ran out of the house.
"Ziva!"
I moaned.
"Ziva! Try to stay awake! Vance is calling an ambulance!"
"Abba, is anyone else hurt?"
"No, my daughter."
I was fighting to keep my eyes open, but I was losing.
"Come on Ziva. Do not do this to me."
Gibbs pulled into the driveway and ran up to us. Vance and Jackie also walked out of the house. Gibbs looked at the bullet holes that punctured the entire surface of the house.
"What happened?"
Vance looked at him and then at his house.
"We where having dinner, then Ziva stepped outside. Next thing we know there's glass flying everywhere."
Gibbs looked at me, my eyes barely open.
"Come on, Ziver. You can make it! Help is on the way."
I smiled at my nickname. Gibbs took my father's place by my side. Tony and McGee arrived the same time as the ambulance. They loaded me up and took me to the hospital, evaluated my injuries, put me under, then took me into surgery.
GIBB'S POV
McGee walked up to where Tony was standing in the area near the Emergency Room doors.
"How bad?"
Tony sighed.
"She's lost a lot of blood. She's still in surgery."
"It's been two hours. That can't be good."
They glance over at me, as I stood rooted to the floor, staring at the closed doors in front of me.
"He's been standing there the whole time," Tony said, gesturing towards me.
They started to talk about other things.
"Vance and Jackie went to a hotel room for the night, and Eli was put under protective custody. Abby and Ducky made their way slowly into the space we occupied. Abby looked at Tony.
"How is she?"
He shook his head.
"Maybe we should go to the waiting room," Ducky suggested.
"Alright," they all agreed.
Everyone but me. I was going to stay no matter how long it took. A doctor walked out. Then another, this time covered in blood.
"Miss David is alive, but barely. Another 2 minutes and she wouldn't have made it."
I thanked him then walked back out to the waiting room to announced that she was still alive. Everyone breathed a sigh of relief. Abby said a little prayer, thanking the Lord she was still alive.
