Te souviens-tu Mingo / Do you remember ?

Do you remember, Mingo ?
Do you remember, my brother ?
Of the time lost in war,
And of the tears of all mothers,

Do you remember, Mingo ?
Do you remember, my brother ?
Of the time spent in conflicts,
Of the noise of the rifles,
Of the false hope of peace,

Do you remember , my friend ?
When you were sharing my hunts,
My bread and my troubles,
When you were protecting my family,
From our enemies and from your own,

Look back, look behind us my friend,
All the winters, all the hungers,
All the springs, all the buds of hope,
All the years of our strength,

Between us, my brother, my friend.

Mingo, do you remember,
The feel and the smell of freedom,
The air around in the forest.

Te souviens-tu?

Te souviens-tu Mingo ?
Te souviens-tu mon frère ?
Du temps perdu en guerre,
Des pleurs de toutes les mères,

Te souviens-tu Mingo ?
Te souviens-tu mon frère ?
Des conflits et des coups de mousquets,
Des faux espoirs de paix,

Te souviens-tu mon ami ?
Qui partagea mes chasses,
Mon pain et mes soucis,
Qui protégea ma famille,
Des nos ennemis et des tiens,

Regardes derrière nous mon ami,
Tous ces hivers, toutes ces famines,
Tous ces printemps et ces éclosions d'espoirm
Toutes ces années de solidité,
Entre nous mon frère, mon ami,

Mingo, te souviens-tu encore , parfois,
De la liberté et des forêts ?
