(k guys here is my first story! hope you like it!)
Chapter 1
Max couldn't believe her eyes. For the first time in her life, she wasn't in a cage. She was watching the scenery fly by as the large hummer she was in flew down the dirt road, the School becoming a pin prick in the distance. She was only thinking one thing, trying to process it into her brain- she was free. Jeb, a the only white coat that, well-she didn't like any white coats- but the only one she didn't hate, had come and put her and the rest of her flock on a big cart and covered the top like a blanket. Max was used to this, not happy(definitely not happy) with it, but used to it.
She was in the middle of preparing her mind and body for a lot of running and a lot of pain. All of the sudden, a door was pushed open and a breeze which she guessed was from outside (she didn't really know, though. She had never been outside!) hit her. She started to breathe very quickly, her lungs snatching the fresh air while she could, expecting to be wheeled back inside. The funny thing was, she never was wheeled inside, she remained outside. Max had never been outside of this long before. She was pondering the question "what could possibly be happening that they take us outside so long?" when a wave of panic swept over her. They were going to let the Erasers kill her Flock. She had seen it happen so many times before.(Well, not seen the actual killing, but she saw the white coats wheel they kids outside on the cart and heard the screaming. She wasn't so stupid to believe that they were going to come back.)She looked into the crate beside her and saw the dark eyes of her best friend, and the only person in the universe that she trusted, staring at her.
"What do you suggest we do. Were kinda screwed, don't you think" he said, his voice a depressed monotone.
"We do what we always do," Max replied, " fight hard and to the finish."
At that exact moment she felt the sensation that she was being lifted. The cart had stopped moving, and the whole crated, cages and all were being put in the back of a huge silver hummer with some of the seats pulled down. The trunk closed with a thump and when she heard the driver's door open and close with a slam, the blanket that covered all the cages was pulled off. His face creased with stress and nervousness. He told them a few words-"if anyone asks, you are my nieces and nephews,"-and he quickly opened their cages, pointed to the seats that weren't folded down, and, without another word, pulled out of the parking lot of the only place Max had ever known and sped away. She was always doing what she had dreamed of and was determined to do, even though it seemed impossible-she was leaving the school.
