"Chrom! Get it off!" I screeched, clutching my staff and squeezing my eyes shut.
My brother chuckled. "Calm yourself, Lissa. It's just a grasshopper."
I felt him reached over and pluck the creature from my hair.
"See? That wasn't so bad."
I opened my eyes. In his palm was a little green grasshopper. It wasn't so scary. But…
"Oh, no!" I cried.
Both Chrom and Frederick jumped at my outburst.
"What is it, Milady? Are there more on you?"
"It's not that! Look. It's leg is hurt!" I said, watching the small insect kick it's leg awkwardly. It was all bent up. "Chrom, did you do that?"
"I - I'm not sure. It's so little-"
"Nevermind, hand him over." I said, scooping the little bug into my hands.
My brother had a knack for breaking things with those clumsy hands of his. This needed a woman's touch. I held up my staff and used a quick healing spell. The grasshoppers leg snapped back into place.
"There you go. Good as new."
The grass hopper looked at me gratefully and I smiled. It turned and jumped out of my hands, flying far away.
It wasn't as icky as I expected it to be. It was kind of cute.
I watched it leave. It flew past long grass, landing right next to…..
"Alright. Good," Frederick said. "Now that that is over, let us be on our way. I shall try to keep the insects off of you, Milady."
"Very well," Chrom agreed.
The boys began to walk away, but I wasn't listening.
Was that a…?
"Lissa?" Chrom asked, realizing I wasn't following.
"Chrom, look" I pointed out to where the figure lay. Was it a person?
My brother's eyes widened and he took off towards the body without a second thought.
I was right behind him.
"Milord! Wait!" Frederick wasn't as fast, but much more cautious. "Don't go near it!"
As I got closer, I saw it was a human. A human man.
What was he doing out here? Was he alive?
Chrom reached him first and knelt beside the body. I was by him in seconds, but, unlike him, I was trembling.
Relief rushed over me when I saw the man was indeed alive. His chest rising and falling with each steady breath.
But something else rushed over me when I REALLY looked at him.
He had a soft, peaceful face, surrounded by messy dark blue hair that flowed down the nape of his neck. It looked so soft, I was tempted to touch it. And his eyelashes! They were so long, it was mesmerising. He was very, very handsome.
I didn't even notice I was reaching out to touch him, until Chrom stopped my hand.
"Wait, Lissa." He said, looking thoughtfully at the sleeping man.
Slightly embarrassed, I stood. "Chrom, we have to do something."
"What do you propose we do?" He asked.
How was I supposed to know? It's not every day you find a man, unconscious, in the middle of a field. I didn't have a clue what to do.
"I- I dont know."
I glanced down and gasped.
The man had begun to open his eyes. They were brown and chocolatey and warm. I bent down to get a closer look.
"I see you're awake now." My brother said.
The man's eyes darted around. He looked super groggy and disorientated. But then his eyes turned to me and I my heart fluttered. That was really weird.
I smiled at his cute expression. "Hey there," was all I could think to say.
His eyes rested on me for a moment longer, then turned to Chrom.
"There are better places to take a nap then on the ground, you know." Chrom obviously wasn't spacing out like I was.
I couldn't help but laugh. The man's face made an expression that I could only describe as "rubbery". It was so adorable.
As my brother pulled the man to his feet, all I could think was how grateful I was that that grasshopper had flown into my hair and lead me to this man. And I hoped we would be able to spend more time with him very soon…
