Chapter One: Fate Revisited
Twenty year old Anakin Skywalker sat in his quarters in deep meditation, He and his master Obi-Wan Kenobi had just rescued Senator Padme Amidala from an assassination attempt on Coruscant. Anakin felt somewhat betrayed as he thought of the former Chancellor Palpatine whom was behind everything and cost him so much, he lost Qui Gon his life with his mother amongst other things and even the Senator of Naboo brushed him off now because of the mess the would be Supreme Chancellor created.
Anakin sighed knowing a Jedi shouldn't want things like romance and tried inside his mind to deny his feeling of loneliness but then a memory of his closest friend a young knight about his age Ahsoka Tano came to mind, she had been one of his truest dearest friends and sometimes came close to flirting with him on occasion, part of Anakin was conflicted on this because the code in most cases didn't allow romantic relationships except in the case of a species that was endangered like the Togrutas "But would she ever want a guy like me?" Anakin asked himself. Anakin opened his eyes as he heard a gentle knock on the door and opened it to find none other than Ahsoka and Masters Yoda and Obi-Wan.
Ahsoka stepped in between the Masters and Anakin giving a warm smile "Anakin mind if we come in." the nineteen year old Ahsoka said softly. Anakin shrugged motioning for the three Jedi to enter, Anakin, Obi-Wan, Ahsoka and Master Yoda all sat in the living room of Anakin's quarters getting comfortable, Ahsoka gave Anakin a thoughtful look before speaking. "Anakin I know you have been through so much we all have felt your conflict but we are not here solely for that, Anakin I am here because I have felt your true feelings for me and while you have valiantly in upholding the Jedi code I can't ask you to suffer this any longer." Ahsoka said nodding to Obi-Wan to continue.
Obi-Wan glanced at Anakin now understanding what Ahsoka was talking about, Anakin had fallen in love with Ahsoka and was doing his best not to act on it choosing his words with tact he spoke. "Anakin I have raised you like a son since you were a small boy, and while I admire your attempt to live up to the code I agree with Ahsoka you need to find some happiness and, you never were the conventionally trained Jedi it would be unfair of us to expect you to live as if you were. Obi-Wan said smiling at his former Padawan. Yoda glanced at Anakin thinking of the past ten years the young man had been a Jedi.
Yoda thought of the first time Anakin had stood before the Jedi Council he had sensed much fear in him, the emotions of Anakin Skywalker sometimes puzzled the Grand Master, as Yoda looked at the young Jedi he could feel the struggle in Anakin, a part of Anakin Skywalker was longing to be with Ahsoka, to allow himself to fall in love with the young Togruta that had been his friend for ten years but the other part of Anakin was trying to be a Jedi knight and most Jedi were not allowed to marry or form romantic relationships, if he is the Chosen One he needs to find balance, however did he necessarily need to be a Jedi or could Anakin be something else either way he was in danger from the dark side if he suppressed his feelings like this. Yoda continued to think inside his head then turned to face Ahsoka with a curious expression on his face before speaking. "Knight Tano a suggestion do you have for Young Skywalker?" Yoda asked a grin spreading across his face.
Ahsoka thought for a moment, she could feel the intense love Anakin had for her, but also the fear of rejection, she could sense that he had his heart broken before and this kind of pain was something that made her weep inside "I do Master Yoda, my people signed a treaty long ago when they joined the Jedi Order, the treaty allows any Togrutan to take on a mate and form romantic relationships due to low birth rates and continued slavery on our home world of Shili if Anakin is willing I want to exercise the rights granted by the treaty." Ahsoka said a grin spreading across her face waiting for Anakin to reply.
Anakin was shocked by her proposal, he had always had a special relationship with Ahsoka, she had befriended him when he was a boy in the temple, and had been one of the more calming influences in his life, over the years though she and Anakin were near inseparable but Anakin never once thought she would want him as a mate as she suggested now, getting down on one knee searching for the right words, words that would change both their lives. "Ahsoka Tano, I have known you for so long, we grew up together, fought together and formed a powerful bond, I can't imagine life without you, would you...will you marry me?" Anakin asked trembling.
Ahsoka almost couldn't believe what she was hearing, her man, her Anakin wanted to marry her. feeling the joy swell up inside her she leaped tackling Anakin as he knelt on the ground wrapping her arms around him saying the only word that came to mind "YES!" Ahsoka said. Anakin let his own joy flow into The Force and sighed as Ahsoka got off of Anakin suddenly remembering the two Jedi Masters in the room "Congratulations you two!" Obi-Wan said smiling broadly. Master Yoda gave a slight approving nod of his head "Then time it is to discuss your futures in the Jedi Order it is." he said becoming serious again. Ahsoka and Anakin gave Yoda and Obi-Wan a nod. Obi-Wan sat for a moment before speaking thinking carefully. "Ahsoka as you know the treaty has been invoked a hand full of times in the Jedi's history, each time the married couple was not allowed residency in the temple here on Coruscant, we ask you and Anakin to honor this as marriage is not a common practice we will of course provide you with enough funds to purchase a house anywhere in the galaxy, also as was tradition in the past we will be sending an older Togrutan Jedi with you to serve as a priestess for your wedding in this case Ahsoka's godmother Jedi Master Shaak Ti." Obi-Wan finished
Anakin and Ahsoka gave each other a smile "Thank you so much for everything we will get ready to leave immediately." Anakin said.
over the next several hours Ahsoka and Anakin aided by Obi-Wan packed their belongings and slowly made their way toward the hanger bay, where a small Jedi Shuttle waited for them "Well Anakin here it is your ride to your new home, any idea where you will go?" Obi-Wan asked. Anakin thought for a moment "Well Ahsoka and I always wanted to see Dantooine and I hear its really peaceful this time of year." Anakin said, Ahsoka gave a happy nod hearing Anakin's comment as she started to load the last of her things on the shuttle. "That sounds wonderful, listen the council may have a request for you if you decide to go there but I will tell you more later." Anakin nodded then without warning hugged his old master "I am going to miss you Master Kenobi." Anakin said letting a few tears. "I will miss you too Anakin who else will get me in trouble with the Council daily." Obi-Wan said.
As Obi-Wan and Anakin were saying their good byes Shaak Ti and Siri Tachi approached the group in the hanger. "Anakin I just heard the news congrats boy." Siri said as she hugged him. Ahsoka smiled as she saw the blonde Jedi Master Congratulate her betrothed, Siri had always been in more ways then one a sort of adoptive mother to Anakin, it was no secret that Obi-Wan and Siri were close some even thought they might be dating but none could prove it. as Siri released Anakin she turned to Ahsoka "please take care of Anakin for me he has been through a hard enough life and so have you Knight Tano just be happy together." Siri said. Ahsoka gave Siri a grin "Of course Master Tachi Anakin will be safe with me count on it." she said. Shaak Ti smiled seeing the younger Togruta speak so fondly of the Anakin, she sighed it almost saddened her though that her god-daughter had to leave the temple but then again Ahsoka was not alone, while true Anakin was forced to leave as well Shaak Ti herself had decided this was to be her last mission, she would be the master to guard the Chosen One and his mate. Shaak Ti smiled to herself having fond memories of Anakin and Ahsoka as children both were a perfect match for each other her smile widened as she realized Ahsoka would be Anakin's first for many things in the world of romance then allowed her expression to return to normal. "Are we ready to leave?" Shaak asked Anakin and Ahsoka. "Yes master, all aboard." Anakin said sporting a half cocky grin.
Ahsoka boarded the shuttle with Shaak Ti and after a quick greeting from her godmother Shaak Ti went to the back of the ship to meditate while Ahsoka went to the cockpit to check on Anakin. "Hey Anakin how are you doing?" Ahsoka asked sweetly placing a hand on Anakin's shoulder squeezing it gently. Anakin looked up at Ahsoka giving her a nervous smile. "I am doing alright I just feel like because of the council we missed a chance to do a lot of the stuff dating couples do." Anakin said honestly. Ahsoka looked at him thoughtfully as he finished speaking his thoughts, and then it dawned on her, Anakin being a Jedi never had a first kiss or for that matter a first date well at least official date, she had done her share of playful flirting with Anakin in the past and on occasion had stopped by his quarters for dinner, they also enjoyed lightsaber sparring together regularly but yet she had never done the one thing any couple outside the order did by the second date.
Ahsoka without warning placed a hand on Anakin's cheek leaning in giving him a gentle kiss at first, then increased its intensity deepening the kiss allowing all her love to flow through the force to Anakin, Anakin feeling the surprising force of the kiss allowed himself to relax and let Ahsoka take the lead, the feeling was magical to Ahsoka as if the force had guided her to Anakin she smiled as she broke the kiss "Lets go home Skyguy." Ahsoka said as she settled into the co-pilot seat. "As you wish snips." Anakin replied remembering her childhood name and within a few minutes made the jump to hyperspace.
