Nice to meet you *bows* this is my first fanfiction for Heiji and Kazuha so I hope you all will like it!
"Farewell is a word, so simple, so dour.
Saying what started but did not endure.
Farewell is a feeling of something that's gone.
Farewell is a memory that stays for too long.
Farewell is everything that's been left unsaid.
Farewell is the greeting of someone who's dead."
Peter Rhodes
If only he had arrived on time. If only the murder didn't happen. If only he didn't forget his way. If only…If only…
But sadly, Hattori Heiji could not rewind the clock and start over again.
Looking upon her beautiful face surrounded by flowers crumbled his heart to dust. He knew how dangerous it was to leave a girl after dark in a public place. He knew the dangers of being a detective. And yet, he was such an idiot to let this happen to his best friend.
He had taken her presence for granted. She was very precious, but he didn't know that he needed her until she was taken away from him. And now he realized it too late.
He touched her face, not shocked by the coldness of her skin. He gazed at her, swallowing hard.
"I'm such an idiot." He said, clenching his fists. "I know sorry won't bring you back, but still…I am so sorry. I'm sorry for coming late. I'm sorry for leaving you all alone. I promised that I wouldn't let you get hurt yet…"
He furiously wiped away the tears falling down his face. Before the men could lower the lid, Heiji took out a small letter and laid it in her hands. He stepped back and took one last look at the serene face of his childhood friend. They closed the casket with a click.
"I'm sorry I didn't say I love you before you disappeared."
As they lowered the coffin down the ground, Heiji took a small aster tataricus, a red rose, a red spider lily, and a sweet pea. He threw them down the grave and walked away.
Shinichi, who had also attended, followed his detective best friend.
Heiji looked up at the clear blue skies and smiled, but it didn't reach his eyes. It probably never will.
"Kudo." He said.
Shinichi replied. "What is it?"
Heiji closed his eyes. "It's raining today."
Shinichi was about to say something about it when he saw the tear streak down Heiji's cheek.
He solemnly said. "I can see."
And with that, neither spoke much as it rained.
Aster tataricus: remembrance
Red spider lily: never to meet again
Sweet pea: goodbye
Well, how did you like it? It's pretty sad, isn't it? The "It's raining" is taken from a scene in Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. Also, I thank Google and Wikipedia for its sources…Please review and tell me how it was!
Until next time!
