A/N: This is for Valenship and it's my first ever Sam/Jack story. I hope you like it =]

The shrill ring of the telephone resonated throughout the house.

And then again.

And again.

And again.

Then it stopped. But then a cell phone went off from the bedroom nightstand.

"OH FOR CRYIN' OUT LOUD!"

General Jack O'Neill appeared from the bathroom, a towel hastily thrown around his waist. The sounds of the hot water from the shower still splashing in the background he perched himself on the edge of the bed and picked up the phone.

"O'Neill." He barked into the receiver.

The voice of his assistant assaulted his ears. Jack rubbed a free hand over his face, trying to focus on what Walter was saying. When the man took a breath Jack jumped in and berated him calling after having left specific instructions to not be disturbed. Walter started rambling again about some kind of an emergency and Jack heaved a sigh knowing that he could not get out of this.

As he hastily told Walter he'd be there in about half an hour, the shower turned off in the bathroom. Jack shut his phone with a snap and cradled his head in his heads, sighing. The soft tread of footsteps halting at the bathroom door caused turn and look up. There stood Sam, towel wrapped around her body and hair still dripping wet, looking more gorgeous than he could ever have imagined.

"Emergency?" She asked rhetorically.

"Yeup."

Walking over to Sam he gently took her in his arms kissing her softly and Sam leaned readily into it, wrapping her arms around his neck and running her fingers through his still damp hair. Pulling back they leaned, forehead to forehead, their breath tickling the others face gently.

"The one holiday the Hammonds actually around for…"

"Yeah I know…"

Another long moment passed and neither of them moved. Then Jack lifted his head, kissed her forehead and murmured,

"I'll make it up to you when I get back. Promise."

As he turned go back into the bedroom and get dressed she smirked,

"You'd better."

Pivoting to look at her and respond he found she had already slipped into the bathroom and turned the water back on. Smiling to himself and shaking his head,

"A very happy Valentine's Day to you."

"Same to you!"

Sam called from bathroom and Jack laughed. Moments like this made everything worth it.
