Heart
.
It happened every Valentine's day, every since he was eight years old.
Mikey had been upset and crying that he had wanted a special card, candy, teddy bear or something that told him that someone really loved him on that every so special day.
Yet his sensei had told them all no, saying that they did not need gifts or anything of the sorts, and that they were already very loved.
Mikey wasn't impressed.
Mikey had seen all the specials on tv. He had seen how happy everyone was on the special day, how they would get all mushy and happy just because someone would give them something in the shape of a heart.
Mikey wanted that.
He wanted the hearts, and the mushy feeling.
He had thrown a fit. Mikey had yelled and thrown a tantrum all because he wanted something.
" But I want one! I want a heart, and a teddy and-and-" Mikey sniffled.
" Michelangelo, that is enough." Splinter voice boomed.
Mikey's eyes had gone large and owlish. He hadn't meant to cause his father to become mad.
His three other brothers had gone silent once Master Splinter had become cross with Mikey. They knew how much Mikey liked the holiday they just didn't think it would have gone this far.
" To your room, I have had enough of this" Splinter's tone told Mikey that Splinter wasn't fooling around, so quickly he picked up his toys and ran strait for his room.
With tears falling down his face, Mikey sat on his bed in the far corner with his knees tucked to his chin.
"not fair"
Soon after Mikey had fallen asleep, not waking till early the next morning.
Stretching Mikey, sat up and looked around his room, he had left his lamp on last night so the room was still illuminated.
Looking around his messy room something red caught his attention. It was sitting on his dresser propped up by something.
Jumping off his bed and flying over to his dresser, Mikey smiled.
There sitting on his dresser was the heart and teddy he had asked for.
Picking up the card and tucking the bear under his arm, Mikey sat on the floor and looked at the card.
It was rough around the edges and looked to have been torn into the proper shape, yet it showed care.
Opening it up Mikey read the heart shaped card.
"Happy Valentines day, know your loved"
That had be seven years ago. He was now fifteen, and every Valentines day he would receive the same heart only more clean cut and the writing was clearer, yet the heart shape and words always stayed the same.
It was a few hours from midnight. he was trying to stay up to catch his Valentine.
He knew who it was, but he had to make sure. Mikey only knew one person who had that writing, so it just had to be him.
A shadow appeared outside his door, then the small red paper was slid under it.
Jumping off the bed and dashing to the door with his bear under arm, Mikey opened it wide and yelled in a hushed tone for his brother.
" Raphie?"
Stepping into the hallway Mikey was met with silence. No one was there.
Turning with a smile Mikey grabbed on to his door knob.
" thanks Raphie" Mikey whispered, stepping backing into his room, and closing the door with a soft 'click'.
In the hallway stepping out of the shadows, Raph smiled. He hadn't meant to be caught.
He had been doing this for so long it was funny to him, but it was worth it hearing that quiet thank you.
" ya welcome, Mike" Raph whispered back, opening his own door and stepping inside.
Leaving the lair in silence once again.
