"Scout I need help." I said as I found him in the hallway.
"Yeah Red?"
"I need a good present for Liz. Wha' da' ya' think she'd like?"
"The normal Red."
"Like what?"
"Flowers, a mid-night walk in the park, a night free of your two dozen cats..."
"But that all sounds so... boring..."
"Why don't you take her to the underground market then Red?"
"Hey! Good idea Scout! Give Liz this note for me? She should be at the coffee shop, but if she isn't then she'll be somewhere close to it." I said as I stretched out my hand with the note. He took it.
"Sure Red."
"Thanks kid." I said and turned away.
"Oh, Red?"
"Yeah kid?" I turned back, my eyes widening as a dark, shadowy figure stepped up behind John, pulled out a gun, and pressed it to his rib cage. I saw his eyes dull and the color in his face pale, but his smile stayed the same. The figure smirked and started pulling the trigger.
BANG!
His smile melted away as he gasped and held his ribs. The figure behind him laughed and faded away. He looked up at me as I cradled his head and neck in my hands and mouthed two words to me.
Help me.
A high pitched beeping was heard, and the world started to fade.
I woke up with a start as I looked at the monitor. The green line that had kept a steady rhythm for the past two weeks was now flat. I hurriedly jabbed the nurse and emergency buttons on the bed and then gripped the shoulders of the only thing that kept me in a wing I usually avoided at all costs and shook him.
"Don't you die on me! Don't you even think about it!" I shouted as I listened for the nurses and doctors fly into the room.
"Hellboy, get out of the way!" Abe yelled as he shoved me off of the man lying in the hospital bed… my friend, was dying on a bed and I couldn't do anything…
If I can't have him, no one can… If I can't have him no one can. This phrase kept playing over and over in my head. He gave everything to everyone. He'd once given the only three weeks he's ever had off to another Agent who wanted to fly over to Montana to see his college kid for her birthday…
"You sure? I wouldn't want to take your vacation time… after all, who wouldn't want a long break from Red?"
"Aww Harris, you've got it all wrong with him. He's not nearly as selfish as everyone seems to think. He's a really great guy, once you get passed his grouchy attitude. And I'm sure. I mean, what am I going to use it for anyway? Plus, no one else can keep HB out of trouble like I can." He said on a laugh.
The sad thing is, I'm exactly as selfish as everyone says I am.
Why you may ask? That's an easy one…
The Agent that I trust and love the most is dying with a bullet hole in his side that went clear through one lung, possibly nicked his spine, and went through his left shoulder blade that looked like it could've been shot by an elephant gun….
John was dying…
And it was all my fault.

Very very short, but in my opinion a good Chapter. Andi's chapters may not be that long right now, but they're still coming. She suffered a family tragedy recently soooo….she's kinda out of the writing mood. Thus the morbid start to this story.
I hope you all can forgive me… It's only two pages in word. But It's better then nothing, right?
Love,
Dana & Andi
