Billions of years have passed on my watch. I have seen stars die, planets form, empires fall and rise, and other quirks of the universe. Life is but a gem to me, even with its many cultures and beings. I find many races that will try to fight me – thought a few have aided me in my cause – but like everyone else, they usually perish at my frame.
Earth is a curious place. I find myself drawn there from time to time, be it to attempt a snack on the planet or instead help them in an ongoing war. I have made few friends and many enemies from that world, ranging from the heroes known as the Fantastic Four to my former herald Nova. They have left me much to think about – and yet I often seem to disregard their advice of leaving planets alone. After all, how can someone of my needs hold that off?
I now float through space, admiring the stars as they burn in and out of existence and the various wormholes leading to other earths. I have yet to finds the limits of our universe, but it perplexes me not. For as long as there is life, there are more planets to find, and more planets to hunger upon. Many do not realize that in killing a planet, I leave room for another to grow in its place. Indeed, there is the uncommon knowledge that the universe seemingly answers to my whim, producing new planets in regions that I travel to every so often.
Of course, there is also the question of whether or not the universe would be better off without me. Earthers, Thanos, and many more aliens have tried – sometimes succeeding – but mostly failing in this respective goal. They are not wrong; by feasting upon a planet, I doom the life forms of it to my own design. As the years have passed, I've tried my best to hide that or at least pass it off, but nothing can hide my nature. Everywhere I go, all I see are what humans call "ants," and they are always whining.
My only hope, if a being such as myself can have one, is that eventually, I will leave this universe with something good. I may only consume planets, but maybe…just maybe I can leave something positive in my wake.
I float towards a vortex of cosmic energy, knowing it will not satire my appetite, yet still interested. I strive for more truth and fulfillment, today and every day as long as there is life in my desires.
But let something be known, to any earther or creature amongst the stars. I am Galactus. I am older than many of you beings currently alive, and I must feed.
And if, for any reason, you seek to deny me, know that my will is more than you can imagine. It will tear your planet apart and reduce you to specs of dust floating in the regions of space. I will raze your lives into nothing with my power cosmic and make it so. Do NOT cross me.
For I must feed…and nothing can stop my hunger.
So yeah, I just thought Galactus was too interesting of a character to not do a one-shot for.
Also, for those Darknight Universe fans out there, I AM planning on submitting the final chapters this weekend. Don't fret, it'll be fine!
