We sat there, dumbfounded, for how long I can't tell you; (but it was probably a few seconds before we started freaking out) starring at the sputtering screen as it flickered between a grainy black and blinding white. A large rift of broken glass and sparking electronics now occupied the center of the flat surface of my bedroom television. The Playstation 2 it was standing on was making unholy noises like it was eating the disk inside of it.

We were both sitting with our legs folded on the edge of a twin sized bed. My best friend since elementary school had been idly flipping through the pages of The Hunger Games, a Christmas gift in light of the recent movie release. In my own hands I clutched the game controller that quivered violently as if it was registering the chaos happening before us. I quickly dropped it, unnerved by what just happened.

Today was to be a normal day, a day of reminiscing and innocently enjoying each others company. We pulled out Kingdom Hearts from my modest collection of games. Even though it was a single player game, my friend would rather watch and make witty commentary while I played the game. We joked about the absurd moments of the storyline and the entire series in general.

I complained about how all the new games are ported to different consoles upon release making it impossible to play through the series without emptying out your wallet. My friend poked fun at the ridiculous amount of zippers and belts that Mr. Nomura decked out his characters with. We even started to go through each character design displayed in the Journal.

When we reached Cloud's entry we both burst into a fit of giggles due to an inside joke we both shared.

Now I had already played Final Fantasy VII so I was well aware of Cloud's infamously large Buster Sword, but when my friend saw it during our first play through of the game she commented on how the sword was so unusually big it threatened to burst out of the screen. We joked at this, and said that if it did happen we would force Cloud to buy a new TV to replace it.

We had our laughs and were fully prepared to move on with our lives.

But then it happened.

And when I said it happened, I mean it really happened.

The little sprite that stood on the screen went into attack mode and trusted its mummified sword forward and came out the other side of TV fully sized and threatening to break the small frame of the television in half. It came toward us to about a foot's distance before being drawn into the now distorted image of black and white. Needless to say we had the crap scared out of us.

So there we were sitting.

In front of a TV that was broken by a blond spiky haired swordsman.

So I'm sure you can agree that our next course of action was highly logical.

We screamed.

Well there you have it! My first fanfiction post. Based off true events!

Well the best friend and the inside joke are true, everything else is indulgent humor.

Will this lead to a gratuitous self-insertion fic? Not today or anytime soon at least! If it is done it will be very tongue-in-cheek: as in it won't be told in first person, and focus more on the actual characters.

Who knows though? Such stories tend to get inflated to unnecessary proportions, but they can be plenty fun to read. Like those bounce castles parents set up at birthday parties.

I'll probably never get to it anyways… Oh well!

Thank you for Reading!
