Author's Notes: hmm.. This could be just a one-shot, or a series, all depending on you, the readers. Oh, and please don't mind the 's in between paragraphs (or lines). Ffnet can't get the spacing right. And makes the emoticons disappear.
Disclaimers: If fanfic writers did own PoT, then there'd be a lot more.. explicit stuff in there, right? Hehe.. :p
You know those rumors going around that I like you?Well they're true.
That's right...
In sleep or awake night and day
Don't try to fight it.
Don't jerk me around like that.
7 o'clock news, by Tokio
I'm glad that when I opened my mouth, my voice sounded normal, hiding what I truly felt, as I explained, "That's how they play doubles."
I resisted the urge to add, 'Eiji won't be able to depend on him as he does on me. He won't get the same support, won't be as hap – '
Rationally though, I know that this statement to be entirely false. As much as the combination Eiji and I made, the Fuji-Eiji pair was no-less efficient. It was of a different style, yes, and looked quite unsynchronized, but having seen them play before, I can say that the combination works. Our other teammates knew this too.
I heard someone saying (or were the words from me?), "They value individual play. They know each other and trust each other so much that they can do their best without worrying about the other."
None of them needs to follow because of their complete trust of the other.
Somehow, I found my mind protesting, 'But we DO trust each other completely. Eiji trusts me. He depends on me. He NEEDS me.'
Only in tennis. And in things related to tennis. Whom does he call at night when he has problems? Who tutors him most of the time? Who saves him when he gets into trouble during class hours?
Who is his best friend?
A sheen blue gaze met mine. And then that smile I eventually hated. He knew my thoughts. He knew my feelings. As I knew his.
Unsurprisingly, my thoughts are wondering about what kind of relationship would we have, if ever... and what would theirs be?
I know that Eiji and mine will be with strong corners, as displayed by our doubles technique. If he misses, I'll get it. If he gets tired, I'll jump in. When I'm troubled, he'll dazzle me. Whenever I need him, he'll recover suddenly. He'll make me smile everyday. I'll keep him in line. We're the GOLDEN PAIR. We are meant to be together!
And they - ?A soft, smooth voice said, catching my attention, "Eiji. I'll cover for you until you figure something out."
Yes. That's how they will be. He'll let let Eiji do what he wants. He'll allow him to go freely. And when troubles come, he'd appear suddenly, with cures for scratches and bruises. Although he doesn't look like it, he will protect Eiji until the end. He who understands Eiji more. And he, whom only Eiji (no, not even Tezuka) can comprehend.
I would let Eiji fly, like a kite, with me holding the string, waiting for the wind to blow, and protecting it from being taken away by a gust.
Fuji will propel him to get out his cage and explore. If somehow, he forgot his way back, or if he clips his wings, Fuji would look for him everywhere just to mend him.
Which one does Eiji prefer?
tbc, or end?
as I said at the start, this could very well be a one-shot, or could be continued. your choice!:p
oh, please review.
really need your comments about the writing style, if it was boring, if I didn't know my grammar.. etcetera..
thanks!
