"Let Yuui go! Fai can die."

"You killed me."

His eyes were dead, staring out with blame at his twin.

"Misfortune made twins… Calamities.. But killing them would be worse.."

"They must live, unhappy... For everyone's happiness."

Images flashing before his eyes at the sight of Fai (Snow.. blood.. bodies.. Why so many now?) A tall tower, impossible to seek its peak". And inside of it, Fai.

Yuui stared into the eyes of his brother, trembling as that decomposing limb reached out to him, voicing the silent blame. The magician shook his head rapid, eyes watering. It was like he was young again, trapped alone at the bottom of the valley with nothing but the sinners and the snow. Again the voice rapped against his ears, harsh with depression. "You killed me.."

The living twin shook his head, crying out, screaming. "No..! I didn't mean to..! I loved you.. Fai!"

"Murderer.."

"NO! I'm sorry Fai.. I'm sorry.."

"A life.. For a life.."

His frozen hands reached out, closing around Yuui's neck tightly, squeezing and forcing him to meet eye to eyes. The traveler tried to fight back, to scream and escape, but the smaller twins eyes had rendered him captured.

"You killed me… I killed you.." Twins of misfortune, fated to either kill each other, or live in misery. "Isn't this what you wanted Yuui..? To die.. To be with me.."

Yuui gave a jerk, tears streaming down his face, and yet he smiled. Yes.. That was his wish.. To be with Fai.. The grip on his neck tightened, squeezing out the air and causing a cough. Yuui smiled.

Only to be grabbed on the shoulders, being roughly torn from Fai's death grip. Dark tendrils, clawing at him, pulling his further away. Fai's empty eyes reflecting his own broken face. Yuui screamed now, struggling against whatever was pulling him away. "No! I want to die! I want to die!"

"Tch, idiot! I'm the only thing allowed to kill you! Wake the hell up!"

Yuui's eye snapped open, the socket under the eye patch tingling. He was in a tattered room, laying on the floor. His sharp senses picked up the scent of blood, his own, and the smell of Kurogane's. He glanced over, feeling the ninja holding his shoulder, as if shaking him.

Frowning slightly, the Japanese man grumbled out. "You alright mage..?"

Yuui smiled thinly back at him, fingers sliding across his owns lips to force the craving away. "Perfectly fine, Kurogane-san. If you don't mind, let go." It was obvious that his partner had picked up on at least some content of the dream (memory..), but the vampire mage was still in no mood to communicate with Kurogane.

With a tight squeeze, he was released. The warrior hid his hurt from the cold treatment well, even if they both knew it was there.

"You're hungry."

"If you are offering me your blood, I believe I have made it quite clear I'm not interested in. And don't even think about slicing your arm open again, you'll need to be in proper shape tomorrow."

When had it gotten this easy to lie? However it appeared that the ninja was not in the mood to force the issue. With a huff, he returned to his bed. "You can't hide forever."

"I don't need forever, Kurogane-san." The smile was icy again as the cursed twin rolled over so his back was to his ninja.

There was no need to hide his past forever.. Because soon enough, the wishes would be granted and the curses activated. By the time Kurogane would find out, Yuui would be dead. And reunited with Fai.

The smile of ice eased into a soft line of bliss as the vampiric magaican returned to the land of dreams.
