The Timeless were coming. She could feel it. The temple that house the Earth's Clock had been undisturbed for millennia. Solemn for all that time, she could feel when there was a disturbance coming. For that millennia she could feel herself connected to time itself.
Time was running out, and she had to do something. The Earth's Clock and all of its wonders had infinite possibilities for the way the future would turn out. But if the Timeless obtained it… she was afraid to think of what might happen.
Maybe it was time to run, she thought. If she could escape the temple with the Clock, then perhaps she could escape to the realm up above. As long as the clock kept ticking, then time would remain fluid and could be changed.
She walked up to the altar that the Clock rested on, only to hear the sounds of the temple doors breaking down. Oh no, she thought to herself. Her time was running out, the sand of her hourglass falling rather quickly. Running up to the Clock, she was about to grab it when a voice spoke aloud to her, echoing through the empty temple chambers.
"So, you're the protector of the Earth's Clock, eh?" One of the Timeless said. Like all the Timeless he resembled a silhouette of an actual person. The Timeless stole the identities of others around them, and here there were no other people here though to steal the face of.
"You really came to the wrong neck of the woods if you think you can touch Earth's Clock, you freak." She stepped down from the altar that held the Earth's Clock. "You'd be foolish to think you could match me." This resulted in laugh from another of the Timeless, one who was female.
"You think you can stand up against us? There's more of us than you! Outnumbered and outplayed!" The female Timeless said, laughing haughtily like a spoiled princess. She had a sword made of shadows in her hand, and she began to walk forward. "Hand us Earth's Clock, and no one has to be injured."
She tilted her head a bit as she grabbed the Clock into her hands. "That's definitely not ever gonna happen, Timeless!" The girl raised her arms up, the Clock in her hands.
"Pretty Cure! Clock Up!"
There was a great flash of light emanating from the Clock, as it enveloped its protector.
"The Hero That Time Forgot! Cure Chronos!" Chronos announced, landing on the ground in front of them. "I will protect the Earth's Clock, no matter what it takes! Even sending you Timeless back to the corners of the timeline!"
"I'd like to see you try." The male Timeless voice said, summoning a shadow-y axe into his hands. He ran forward toward Cure Chronos to make a strike, only for her to vanish, before reappearing behind him. She backhanded him in the side quite hard, sending him into the wall. He groaned a little, returning to his feet. "Think that'll be enough to take me out!?"
She was gone again.
"Where did she go…?" He asked, before being kicked hard in the head. The silhouette was struck several more times, a rapid series of kicks pummeling him into the wall. He groaned once more, shaking his head a bit. "Where did you… come from?" He asked as she soon came off the wall and stumbled forward.
"Anywhere." She vanished before his very eyes, before reappearing behind him. She kicked him once more to make sure he would stay down, before turning her attention to the female Timeless. She squealed a bit in fear, as she began to make a break for the Clock. If she could just force the hands back, then her mission would be complete. Chronos, however, would not make her job so simple. She vanished from the downed Timeless, making her way toward her new opponent.
The female Timeless used her sword to strike at Chronos, only to miss completely. Chronos, you see, has dominion over time. Her powers were used to stop and resume time as she pleased, with her strikes being precise, but not deadly. She was a force to be reckoned with. No matter what the female Timeless pulled, she was two steps behind her.
"As long as I'm alive…!" Chronos began as she pulled the sword out of the Timeless' hands. "You'll never get the ending you want!" She kicked the Timeless back, and she, too, fell onto the ground next to her cohort. "The Earth's Clock will always remain protected!"
…
"Are you so sure about that?"
…
Cure Chronos heard another, more villainous voice, from behind her. She quickly whipped around to witness another Timeless, more monstrous than the other ones, right next to the Earth's Clock.
"You've failed little Cure." The Timeless said, it's voice, a mixture of calming and terrifying. The long claws it had soon made contact with the Earth's Clock. Chronos felt her powers drain significantly, as the claw forced the minute hand backwards. "So easy to distract… tick tock, tick tock… the clock goes back to when you didn't have powers."
"I… I don't think so!" Cure Chronos yelled, holding up her hands, which began to glow a dark green color. Her whole being was being shaken. Her life came from the Earth's Clock, and now she could feel it being taken away. The timeline she was so connected with… was folding in on itself. Who knows what untold troubles could be caused by the Clock being turned back. She aimed her hands at the Clock, before yelling aloud, her voice travelling upon the echoes of the room. "I won't let you reverse time as you please!"
"What do you think you're doing? You really think you can defeat me like that!?" The Timeless laughed loudly, as Cure Chronos smiled a little bit.
"Who said I was aiming for you?" She said, smiling a bit, as sweat ran down her face. She was so tired and ready to collapse, but she wouldn't let that happen. Not yet.
"Pretty Cure! Chrono Cross!"
A bright green light erupted from her hands and struck the Clock head-on. Green light shot out from the clock, forming a green cross of energy.
"W-what do you think you're doing!?" The Timeless said as its claw was forced back from the Clock, whose hands began to spin out of control.
"I'm splitting up the Clock!" Cure Chronos said, as her energy began to severely dip. However, the energy being released from the Clock were filling her enough to keep herself transformed. Running forward toward the Clock, she reached out, grabbing the Clock, which split into four different watches.
The Timeless roared out loud, striking Cure Chronos and sending her flying toward the other side of the room.
"You foolish girl! Without that Clock, time will not be able to be changed!" The Timeless screeched loudly, as the temple began to crumble before them. Without the Earth's Clock keeping it in place, the ancient place could no longer be stabilized.
"Yes… One timeline… No longer fluid… You can't change anything now…" The girl formerly known as Cure Chronos said, her transformation breaking apart. She looked at the four watches in her hand, before turning a head to her side. She whistled, and a small fairy appeared before her. "Get us outta here… right now!"
The small fairy nodded and saluted, as the doors to the temple opened. Light shined in, as the Timeless roared out once more.
"I'll get my hands on the Earth's Clock… If it's the last thing I do!" The Timeless said, it and its cohorts slipping away into the shadows as the temple began to fall apart. "Curse you… Pretty Cure!"
Soon enough the temple soon was engulfed in shadows. Earth's Clock nowhere to be seen. It's protector was gone now as well. Up above was the Earth itself, home to humanity. No one could expect what was going to happen now.
