"Take my hand," Lavender said with a smile. The sun shone on her hair, making it appear gold, and the light brought out the few freckles across her chin.
"What are we going to do?" Parvati asked, excited. "Where are we going?"
"I wanted to take you on a date."
"A date?"
"Yes, silly," Lavender said with a giggle. Within moments they were by the lake. A picnic blanket with mountains of food appeared before them. "Parvati," Lavender began. "I have to tell you something. I think I'm in love with you."
Parvati couldn't believe it. She started crying. Happy tears. "Oh really? Really? Oh, Lavender, you don't know how -"
Lavender shut Parvati up with a quick kiss. Her lips were the softest thing Parvati had touched in her life. They kissed and kissed for what felt like forever, unable to break apart. This was the best moment of Parvati's life, this was -
then suddenly Parvati awoke.
It was a dream. It was just a dream. She curled herself into a tight ball on her bed. But she had really cried. Her cheeks were wet. She still felt like crying. But this time, it was from sadness, not joy. Because that dream – a dream she was having almost every night – would never be a reality. She would never get to go on a date or kiss the girl of her dreams. She could never tell Lavender about these dreams, about these feelings.
It was a secret she would have to keep locked up forever.
