The blond also had a fondness for silence and peace, specially when it involved sitting in his softest couch (which was a hard choice, since being that rich he could afford not only the best sofa, but the best beds, best chairs, best everything), reading or just resting, listening to classical music.
Which didn't explain why he missed loud noises when he spent a whole day in peace, at his house or an elegant hotel, when he was free of work at DATS.
When the feeling begun, he barely could notice it. But then he became a little more aware, and would awkwardly stop what he was doing, raise his head, and look for something he felt that was missing. Suddenly, the silence was strange, just like the horror movies when it gets silent before an important event, usually the appearance of a monster.
He could never explain to anyone (or himself, for the matter) why he felt much more at ease when he knew that Masaru would show up at any moment, trying to leave the work earlier, or arriving at it later without anyone noticing. It was so common that it was almost a relief, knowing that, for this time, the unpredictable guy would do something that he could easily foresee. And even though his partner could annoy the hell out of him, he felt almost comfortable, because this wouldn't change.
Masaru always surprised him, mostly for the good, but Tohma hated to be surprised. He thought of it as a weakness, and he decided early that he wouldn't be weak. So, in all the times the other entered through the door already cursing at him, shouting that today would be the day when he would prove himself to be better than Tohma, the blond would relax and just ignore him as always, because then Masaru would try to do everything to get his attention.
And it felt like it should be this way forever.
Tohma, deep inside, feared the day Masaru would just surprise him like the other times, not in fights or deep words coming from his foul mouth, but with his actions. He didn't particularly liked the idea of the other boy just... accepting or ignoring his remarks. Being focused in another thing, or person.
He got puzzled with this for days until he asked Yoshino about it, and got a smile as response. Tohma said a 'Thanks for the help' and walked away before she could make up her mind differently and tell him another thing, something he would only figure much later.
Now, every time he thinks about it, he grits his teeth and struggles hard to keep his composure, feeling the blood going to the head and becoming very, very irritated, with signs of frustration.
Being in love with Masaru wasn't something he had or would have planned, ever.
