One Last Howl
A/N: This is my first Alpha and Omega fanfiction. I will warn readers that this will not be a happy story by any meaning of the word, and there will be character death. I will say here and now that I, by no means, hate any character that may end up dead, wounded, maimed, missing, etc. in this story. I also will apologize if the prologue doesn't make much sense to people, near the end of it especially. (That is what I get for staying up late writing this.)
Disclaimer: * Chipbatlion pokes Humphrey with a stick* Come on, do it, what are you waiting for?
Humphrey: You can do it, and can you please stop poking with that stick.
Chipbatlion: *Poke* No, you do it.
Humphrey: Chipbatlion720 does not own Alpha and Omega or the characters of Alpha and Omega.
Prologue
My paws slowly pressed into the softened dirt that had been left by the rain from the night before. I looked around me at my surroundings. The place looked familiar, but something tells me it is different, different than it used to be, things had changed. That isn't too surprising given the fact that a number of years had passed since I had been here last. I have not seen my old home and all the old sights that were reminiscent and many that had been present when I was young, even though most of those things have changed or are gone completely with no hope of them ever returning.
Time has a way of changing things and making things into shadows of their former self. Not all things are held to this though. Some things remain the same and are immune to the idea of time itself, and are left untouched. These things are relics of a forgotten time to everyone, except a few individuals who were alive to witness what they witnessed. Most of these "relics" are only small areas that still hold their shape, some trees, patches of dirt, and rocks mostly, each one a witness to what once was and what happened here. The thing that caused it to change.
There were many events that these things saw, some happy some sad, all of them now stored away like a squirrel storing food away for winter. Among these events was the one event that caused me and a few lucky others to leave this place we all called home.
I remember being happy back then, my life was perfect. I had the girl of my dreams, three kids, I had my friends and what appeared like a bright life ahead of me. So why did this all have to happen, to them and to me? It really should not have happened, none of the events that led up to it, and definitely not the event itself. So why did it happen? Why did fate feel the necessity of making happen?
As I look at my surroundings, I feel memories flood back into to me, as if the "relics" were reminding me, 'Like I really needed to be reminded' I scoffed at the thought. Still, the memories are there and they won't leave me alone, and something tells me that this will be the last time I get a chance to see this place and look back on those events.
A/N: Well there is the prologue, sorry if it is short, I promise the chapters will be getting longer as the fanfiction progresses. I will try to update this as soon as I can, and hopefully I will. By the way the character narrating this scene is a much older Humphrey, just to clear up a bit of confusion. Please read and review.
