Travis 31st Hunger Games

My names Travis. I live in District 7 the lumberjack district. I have a sister and a father. My mother died in an accident involving an axe a man and unfortunate a death. My sisters only five so luckily she can't compete in the Hunger Games. The Hunger Games are gruesome games where 24 people in the ages of 12 to 18 go into an arena to fight to the death for only one victor to prevail.

Sweat ran down my neck as I chopped at the large tree.

"Travis! Come inside! You've been out there for 2 hours and you're all sweaty! You need to get ready for the reaping." My Dad said

I came inside went to the bathroom to bathe. After I was done I changed into a plain old button up and trousers. My dad, 5 year old sister, and I left to the center of the district. My Dad picked her up and went behind the ropes and waited. I got my finger pricked and I went with all the other kids. Once everyone was where they should be, a young woman came up to the stand.

"Welcome to the 31st Hunger Games reaping!" She said

She hit a button and a video started to show.

"Many years ago all the districts rebelled against us, the Capitol. One of our districts, district 13, was bombed. Then we came with the Treaty of Treason." The video said. It said it differently but I was bored.

"Let's get started with the boys." She reached her hand in and pulled out a small slip of paper.

"Travis Foster!" She said

My eyes widened. I walked over to the stand. I looked over to my sister and dad. My sister was crying and my dad looked like he was about to collapse.

"Now for the girls," she said, "Grace Flynn! Come on up and shake hands!"

She walked on up. She had flowing blonde hair and golden amber eyes that stared at me as if thinking how she should kill me and we shook hands. A peacekeeper grabbed my shoulder and took me to the Justice building. My father and sister came running in hugging me. My sister was crying on my shoulder and my father squeezing me to death in a hug.

"Take this. This is the medal they gave me for your mother's death. I love you so much, you know that right?" Dad said

"I love you so much Dad." I replied taking the medal

"I love you." My sister said

"Ok your 10 minutes are up!" The peacekeeper said from outside the door

I started to cry. I tried to stop but I couldn't stop.

"I love you all, I love you all so much!" I sobbed

My Dad and sister left the room. The peacekeepers took me to the train. It was a long silver train that looked so fancy. I walked in and saw the nicest looking train in the whole world. Glass tables, couches, drinks so many colors, so much food to feed the whole districts.

"My name is Aubrey," Said our escort "I am to be your escort but you already know that." "Would you like to meet your mentor?" Aubrey asked

We both agreed and we were taken to lounge compartment. A young man was sitting on the couch watching the Reapings. He had black hair and silver eyes. His face was deeply scarred. He was probably in his early twenties.

"Well look at the tributes. I remember when I was going on this train to the Capitol. I was so scared." He said

"Are you Jerry Chester? The one who won the 25th games?" Grace asked

"Yes. Don't remind me." He said

There was the most awkward silence because of how there weren't any other seats and we were standing around.

"Dinner!" Called Aubrey

I was so glad because it broke the silence. We walked over to the table were plates and cups were already filled with water and there was a little basket of the great Capitol bread. We walked over to the table and sat down. We stuffed are selves with food and Aubrey kept saying to save room but we didn't. By the time we we finished I felt like I was going to blow up.
