I do not own Naruto xx
The sound of thunder roared above her head. It was merely a few minutes later when drops of rain fell on her skin. The cool, wetness of the water did nothing to her. She felt dead inside. Her feet dragged through the gravel road.
Soon enough she came into contact with a dirt path as she made her way into the dark woods. The trees cast strange shadows on the ground but she could care less.
A part inside of her knew that the only solitude she would be able to find were underneath these trees. The chill autumn air ruffled her short pink hair in the wind. Her limbs were tired from all the training she did a mere hour ago. Whenever her fist would collide with the ground she would imagine it was a certain person's face.
The effort of the work out was a good outlet to relieve some of the stress she had been feeling that day. Her actual plans were to continue training non stop until her fists were bleeding.
In a second of pause she heard it. The whispers. Sakura quickly snapped out of her momentary distraction and looked up, finally taking in a notice of her surroundings. There was a crowd beginning to gather around her. People looked at her with sorrow. Pity present in their eyes.
Her teeth clenched. The second thing she hated most in life was being thought of as weak. It used to be the first but that all changed today.
The sun was long gone just like her happiness. But oh how the beginning of the day started off so different.
x Six hours earlier x
Sakura walked around her one bedroom apartment in Konoha. Her feet carried her around each room as she reviewed to make sure everything was in order.
The room was clean. Check. Her bed was made up. The pink comforter sheets looked inviting.
The bathroom. Check.
The living room. Che- Her hand quickly removed an empty bag of chips. She crinkled it her hand and tossed it in the trash can by the kitchen. Check.
The dining room table was made of plain dark wood. It was in the shape of a square with four chairs surrounding it. A vase filled with sakura blossoms stood in the center. The table was made for two people. She had carefully arranged the plates a few minutes prior causing the food to still be hot.
Sakura has made his favorite food. Rice balls with tuna. Today was a very important day. It was their three year anniversary. Her hand covered a couple of giggles that escaped her. She was twenty one for goodness sake and should start acting like it.
Her hand came down and she forced a serious expression on her face. Tonight was the night she was anticipating. It was the night she would give in. He had been asking her for it for years now. Tonight she finally planned on going all the way with him.
His mission was only supposed to last for two days so he should be back today. She couldn't wait to see his reaction when she finally agreed.
The clock on her living room wall read noon. The nerves were eating up at her again so she got up and paced the living room once more going through the checklist.
Suddenly there was a knock on the door. In a heartbeat Sakura had the door wide open. She hugged the person in front of her. Her arms tightened around their small waist. Wait.. Sasuke's waist wasn't slim.
"Sakura." Ino's voice was grim. The pinkette took a small step back when she saw her best friend at her door.
"Ino? What are you doing here?" She asked. Ino had a sad gleam in her once bright blue eyes. Right now they were dim. It was then that Sakura realized Ino had a bag filled with ice cream.
"How are you holding up?" The blonde asked as she made her way into the living room. She sat down on the white couch before her. "I brought movies and sweets." Her forced cheerful voice spoke.
Sakura crossed her arm with annoyance. "Ino-pig I'm expecting somebody soon. I won't be able to hang out today. It's our anniversary. You should know this."
Ino glanced up at Sakura. Her mouth opened in shock. "You don't know yet do you?"
She huffed in annoyance. Sasuke would be here any moment now. Her time was not to be wasted. Her demeanor changed however at the expression her friend was giving her. It was then that she felt her heart slowly sinking.
"Know what?" Her voice wavered a bit at the end. Her body plopped down on the couch next to her.
"He's with another woman." Ino said gagging her reaction.
"You said that last month. Do you have any proof?" Sakura crossed her arms over her chest. The fast beating still didn't stop though.
Ino turned away from her. "Sakura… I.. the whole village found out today."
"Found out what?" Her palms were getting sweaty.
"Sakura, Sasuke got Karin pregnant."
It was like the world stopped spinning for a second. She could hear the blood pulsing in her ears. Her heart stopped. There was a heavy weight in her chest that could not be removed.
"What..?" Her voice was barely above a whisper.
"I overheard Sasuke talking on the phone yesterday. He was very angry and yelling at the person. I overheard him say if she was sure it was his. He mentioned that they only hooked up twice in the past months."
Suddenly Sakura felt very nauseous. It was a good thing she had yet to eat or else the contents of her stomach would have been all over the floor.
"He already arrived back to Konoha?"
Ino looked at her friend with pity in her eyes. "Sakura, there was never a mission. He never left in the first place. He's freaking out really bad. The moment that phone call was over he was upset. I can tell he really loves you."
Sakura felt her eyes start to water up. It suddenly felt like somebody ripped her heart from her chest and tossed it on the ground.
"How do you know who the other woman was?"
"Karin is here in Konoha. She's actually already sporting a little bump. I believe she's three months along. Karin isn't keeping quiet either. She told people that she was keeping it and that it was Sasuke's."
Sakura was too shocked to say anything. Her eyes were cloudy as she took in the pictures she had around her apartment. All of them where with her and Sasuke. They looked so in love. Upon closer examination she realized that she was the only one who smiled in the photos. Sasuke just looked like he tolerated her.
Her arms were wrapped around her knees that she brought close to her chest. Her mind was going around in circles. She didn't know what to do with herself.
"I should go." Ino politely said as she walked quietly away. She spared one more look at her friend on the couch. Without another word she left locking the door behind her.
The moment the door closed Sakura bawled her eyes out. Stream after stream of tears left her face. Her body shook as sobs racked her body. She truly loved Sasuke with all her heart. If felt like her life was over.
How much more pathetic could she get? How long had that been going on? Did he even truly love her like she loved him? If she hadn't gotten pregnant than Sakura would have never known.
The truth hurt. It was like she was happily blindfolded throughout her relationship and someone suddenly ripped the fold from her eyes. Her hands caressed her arms as she tried to console herself.
Just the mere thought of his arms touching another woman, kissing her, loving her, and doing the unthinkable made her want to bang her head against the wall. This was the worst pain she had ever felt in her life.
The walls around her began to crumble. Leaving a lonely and small Sakura vulnerable. Her mind wandered through memories of them.
In the beginning it was just the two of them. But somewhere in the middle he changed the script taking a pencil and erasing her happy ending. Instead of loving him she felt so sick.
Did anyone else know? Did they cover for him while Sakura made a fool of herself clinging to him like she had always done?
Then she took a moment to think about herself. Was she not enough? There was doubt in her mind that he loved her. Was she not pretty enough? What was she lacking?
Her thoughts shifted to Karin. She thought he was meant for her. This was their movie and he was already auditioning for her place when they weren't even at the end. What did she have that Sakura didn't?
The fact that he cheated on her made her cry. The fact that he got another woman pregnant made it ten times worse. Someone else would bear his child. All the little fantasies of starting a family with him suddenly vanished into thin air. Into nothingness just like Sakura felt at that moment.
There was a small knock at her door. All of her sorrow and sadness suddenly changed into another emotion. Anger. Why was he here? So that he could laugh at her face? Did he bring Karin with him?
Stomping from the couch to the door she opened the door with a force. Standing in the hallway was none other than the cause of all her distress. He looked up and took sight of her face. His face held no emotion.
She walked back into her apartment with her arms crossed. He walked over and reached towards her but she suddenly jerked away. A few angry tears leaked out of the corner of her eyes. Sakura didn't want to be anywhere near him. The mere thought of him touching her made her want to heave.
"So you know." Came his stoic voice.
Sakura looked at him. "Is that all you came here for? To laugh at my reaction. Congratulations! Unlike you I actually cared about our relationship."
Sasuke said nothing as he stood there in her living room.
"You wouldn't have sex with me." Finally was his response.
Sakura actually was caught off guard. "Are you serious? So you thought it would be okay to get it from someone else?"
Again he said nothing.
Sakura shook her head as more tears fell. She couldn't contain them. Her face rose to meet his once more. There was a crazed look in her emerald eyes.
"Just tell me one thing. Why her? Who is she? How long has this been going on? Did you even love me? I'm not going to do anything crazy, I just want to understand." Sakura took a deep breath. The least she deserved from this breakup was closure.
Sasuke looked at her with disinterest. "She gave me what you couldn't, sex. I met her in the village hidden in the sound when I worked with Orochimaru. It's been going on for over a year now. I did love you and still do. Do you not think it's hard for me to tell you, the woman that I love, that I'm having a baby with a woman I barely even know?"
Sakura took a step back. Her hand was over her heart. The more words that came from his mouth only hurt her even more.
"I'll stop if you give me one more chance." His voice still held no emotion. Sakura shook her head. The audacity this man had. The calm look on his face made her want to punch him.
"No. Just go!" Sakura walked over to the dining room table and began tossing the plates with food in the trash.
"Saku-."
"GO!" She screamed not bothering to look at him anymore. It hurt to much. What remained of her heart was bleeding profoundly.
When she heard the door shut she collapsed on the ground. Her head was spinning with so many emotions. She only knew one thing at the moment. She had to get out.
With her kunoichi outfit on she made her way outside and onto the training fields. If she spent a second more in that apartment she was going to lose it. It held so many memories for her. All of them were now unpleasant.

Sakura arrived at a small clearing in the forest. Her feet hurt. It felt like she had been walking for hours. The sound of the crickets chirping soothed her a little. Her eyes were now completely dry. She felt like there were no more tears left to cry. Hopefully with time she'll be able to mend her broken heart.
There was the sound of a twig snapping behind her. She quickly pulled out a kunai and whirled around. To her surprise Shizune stepped forward from the forest. Tonton was secured safely in her arms.
"Sakura, Lady Tsunade has summoned you." Her soft voice filled the air.
She quickly withdrew her arm and placed the knife back in her pouch. Taking a shaky deep breath she slowly nodded her head. Shizune shot her a pained smile before walking away with the pinkette right on her heels.
The Hokage sat at her desk. Her blonde pony tails hung loosely on her back. The green jacket she usually wore were covering her arms that were holding her head in deep concentration.
Sakura walked in and bowed respectfully towards her teacher.
"I heard what happened." Tsunade spoke. Sakura gave her a forced smile. However, instead of pity the Hokage's eyes were filled with determination.
"How would you like to leave for a little while?"
Intrigued Sakura looked at her with interest.
"What do you have in mind?" Shizune asked with surprise. Apparently the Hokage has not consulted her advisor, big surprise there.
The Hokage pulled out an old scroll from a huge pile of files. She blew on it carefully removing the dust that resided on it.
"This letter was sent from Suna a couple of months ago. It asked for help to train their medical staff. The Kazekage himself requested a medic nin to be transferred there for a couple of years so they could improve their conditions."
Tsunade looked up towards her student. "I was originally not going to reply to this since our staff was low and the only one available to take on this mission was you. However, I did not feel comfortable sending my prized student way for so long."
With a small smile she continued. "But with certain circumstances I thought it would be best if you decided for yourself."
Sakura looked the scroll over with interest. The last thing she wanted was to be in Konoha at the moment knowing that she could run into her ex and Karin on any given day.
"When do I leave?"
