A/N: Watched The Doctor's Wife again today. went to look at lines from the episode and saw that she apparently said 'I love you' as she faded away which led to a feels attack which led to this. Enjoy!

The TARDIS watched her thief as he worked to fix her navigation system. He still had tears in his eyes from her goodbye, and she was certain that if she had eyes they would too. The orange girl and the pretty one gave him room, and he worked silently for a while. It was one hour twenty minutes and eight seconds before he spoke.

"Are you there? Can you hear me?" He asked quietly.

I longed to tell him yes, to scream at him that I was, but I no longer possessed the oral faculties with which to respond. So I did the next best thing.

I started the engines and propelled us into the time vortex and off towards the next adventure.

The Doctor always referred to being bigger on the inside as a wonderful thing, and until the bubble universe escapade she was inclined to say it wasn't such a wondrous thing. She felt hollow. All that space and still she could not interact the way she longed to with the world around her.

She almost wished she had never been taken from the box in the first place but them she thought of how the doctor held her when she would trip, the concern on his face and in his voice. The feel of him. He was her thief and she had finally gotten the chance to talk to him, and she knew that even if given the chance she would not take back an instant of it.

She missed the feel of skin, she missed the way she could feel with human hands, talk with a mouth in a way people could understand, tell him one more time she loved him. Her thief; the man who brought home strays and ran around on adventures, long after his grand daughter, friends, enemies, and would be lovers had left, she was there.

Maybe one day the Doctor would deliver on his promise and find away for them to talk once more. Maybe, but for now she would watch, wish, and long.
