Title: A Chance In-Between

Canon: Charmed/DBZ

Disclaimer: I own neither show.

Summary: Two young men are stuck together in the conversion of time between realities by death. One-shot.

They'd gotten to know each other in however long they'd spent in this cast nothingness where they didn't age or feel hunger or cold. Neither knew where they were going-the consequences of changing time vastly unstudied despite the numerous timelines and realities and time that had passed.

Trunks Briefs was a young man who had fought against a dangerous mutant android called Cell. Vastly powerful, he had practically ki blasted the whole world. Whatever was left was barely livable.

Christopher Halliwell, younger brother of the his current Source of all Evil who was supposed to be the harbinger of Greatness and not Evil. He'd gone back to warn his family who didn't realize who he was that there was something going to harm him.

They'd compared lives and come up with plenty of pros and cons about each reality.

They both had great evils to fight. Trunks hadn't been directly put up against his sworn enemy. That had been Gohan and Goku's thing. While Chris had been put up against his enemy, his brother, there was some kind of undertone that while Wyatt could kill off most of the world, he wouldn't kill Chris. He had nothing against torture and mind control, but it was still a loyalty of a sort. There were plenty of things wrong with that picture.

They'd gone back to save those they loved, and though Trunks was able to help them out, he'd only had a single main enemy to destroy. He'd been mostly truthful with his identity from the beginning. Chris had no such luck. He'd had to invade the lives of his family-to-be and insinuate a lot of untruthful things. However, he'd also gotten to enjoy their presences longer when they finally did find out who he was.

Both had lost everyone they'd truly loved in their separate futures. Both had nothing to go back to but a rebuilding neither was truly looking forward to.

But they'd changed things. There was no telling what would happen.

When the time came for them to accept what had happened and that wherever they were going was for them, they stopped and gave the other a mutual look of understanding. They weren't alone in their struggle. As one, two purple twirling portals swirling inward clockwise appeared and they needed no forewarning. As one, they stepped through the violet energy swirls, content with what they had done.

There was no telling what had happened. Maybe they'd gone on to the new future. Maybe they'd return to the worlds they had originally come from and leave the newly created world to roam free and hopefully happy. Maybe they'd go to heaven or hell or whatever the afterlife was supposed to be made of.

Maybe they'd cease to exist.

In the end though, as Trunks and Chris stepped through into whatever awaited them, they couldn't help but smile. Wherever they were going now, they could go to it content that they'd done what they could, what they were meant to. And in the end, isn't that all that's really necessary?

End.

More of my roll...
