Author Notes: Just some drabble. Yes, terrible title, if you have a better one, suggest it. I figured that Koschei only had his father and that his father was a horrible man, furthermore, probably blamed him for his mothers death. So, I suppose this is a follow up of 'A Blessing and a Curse'. I wanted to expand on it, but my brain refused to. Perhaps later I will.

When all the students returned to the Academy after the holidays with their families, Theta returned with a smile, a feeling of warmth which filled his chest and harbored against the icy cold. Koschei returned with nothing but bruises and healing cuts, his dark eyes shining with the last of his strength.

Koschei always had a feeling Theta knew, but as long as he didn't say anything, he could pretend he didn't. Hide behind the wall he put up to keep everyone out.

Holiday conversation was superficial. Whilst others around them shared stories of their relatives, they avoided it, both of them trying to fill the silence which threatened to expose each other's secrets.

Koschei tried not to think about the healing cuts and bruises, and Theta pretended not to notice them.
