APHRODITE
Eternal life wasn't always easy for Aphrodite. It was difficult and stressful, and it exhausted her. It wasn't all fun and games, love. No, it was painful, and destructive. It varied, her element, for beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and love isn't always as wonderful as it is made to seem. It makes the strongest weak and the weakest strong, it builds and razes empires, and sometimes it made impossible feats, possible.
Love isn't permanent.
That simple fact was why her immortal existence was so hard.
Aphrodite isn't cruel, she is sweet and kind. And she nurtures every bond of love that is formed. Her goal is for everyone to find their soulmate, but that didn't happen nearly as often as she would like. Humans are fragile, and stupid, and they break their love and their relationships, and so break a part of her as well. They don't always understand that the joy they crave has always been in front of them.
She was an Olympian, an almighty god that had impeccable power, but she was only one being. And try as she might she couldn't help everyone, she wasn't strong enough, and that scarred her.
It wasn't often she was happy. She was considered a slut and a whore and many other horrible things, but it wasn't her fault she was falling. Why was she judged so harshly for trying to dull the pain? Millions did what she did, and worse, every day, and yet she was criticized the greatest. The fact that she herself was alone didn't help much.
She had had many flukes in the past, and she loved them all in some way, but they never fully captured her complete heart. Maybe she was destined to be an onlooker forever, seeing true love but not knowing it for herself. She had once told this to one of her children, and the saying, "Always the bridesmaid, never the bride." was born.
She was flawless, to every set of eyes that saw her. But they didn't really see her did they? Did they see the light blonde hair that was mostly straight, but curled in ringlets the shorter the locks became? Did they look into the deep blue/green eyes that flickered to a sea foam color when she was happy? No. In over 3 millenia, not a single soul had seen her true form. They saw an ex-girlfriend, a model, an actress, or a friend, but never her.
Well actually, there was an exception to this.
But before I get to that story, I have to tell you this story.
