Darkness Lies Deep

Summary: This is just a little poem about the similarities between two of my character's lives. They lived so similarly that I just had to write a poem about them. I like these kind of poems.

Disclaimer: I own the characters mentioned here. They are of my creations. Please contact me if you wish to use them. Not that you would want to. They're very evil. Well, not exactly, they just don't know what they're doing.

A/N: I should have mentioned this earlier, but both of the characters are Elves (Tolkien's Elves, not any other kind of Elves).

NE way… I should get on with this. Stay put and enjoy.

Love, power, respect.

He was drawn in by lies.

There was power.

Dark power that coursed

Through his body when he put It on.

He was a slave to the darkness.

Fear. Pain. Hatred.

Marred by hands that should never have touched him.

He was shunned by his people, his family.

He was driven to despair, then darkness.

His mind was twisted, his desires dark.

He was a slave to himself, his lust.

He was a lord, King of Demons.

He lived in hiding, the master,

But nothing but a slave, used.

It was searching, ever searching

For something out of reach

For a creature of the night.

He lived deep within the forest,

Lord of his fantasies.

He was a menace, a danger,

Hitting where it hurt most.

He was hunted and haunted

By his people and his desires.

He wanted more, or at least It did.

It took all that he had ever been and more.

But It was defeated by light.

He came back to himself,

His life was taken,

And he was finally free.

He took the one he wanted

But he didn't count on the others

And nothing went as planned.

He was loved to the end,

And he finally understood

That he was not hated by all.

They met in the land beyond

And looked into each other's eyes

And each understood the other.

They were kindred spirits

With similar pasts

Full of fear, pain, and lust.

They spilled out their pasts

And let out all the feelings

They had each kept bottled up inside.

They understood one another

And they finally knew

That they were not alone.

They were the same race,

Both outcasts, the reason,

Their actions towards their race.

Damakean was a lord but a slave,

Dalmer, the one who was shunned.

They had much in common.

I don't think that this poem makes much sense myself, but both of these characters have some role in other stories. If anyone has questions, I'll be happy to answer them. I think that this poem still confuses me after a number of revisions, and it makes some sense. So NE way… please R&R, even if you don't understand this.

A/N2: Bold is Damakean, Italics are Dalmer, wheras plain text is both.

A/N3: 'It' refers to a black crystal that one of the characters is possessed by, kind of like the Ringwraiths.

Namarie!
