It was summer of '58 when Sandy and her parents came from Australia to spend the vacations in America. First, she was happy about the idea of being in California but after a few days, she was bored to be alone so she decided to go to the beach, not too far of her uncle's house, where she spends her summer. Maybe there's gonna be some teenagers to talk with. At the beach, there were some kids with their parents but no teens.
"Maybe tonight, it's still early", she told to herself.
After dinner, she returns to the beach but this time, her cousin came with her. They were sat on a rock, talking of nothing, when Sandy saw a beautiful guy. He was tall, dark hair and had a charm that drives her crazy.
"I think this guy finds you cute, he laid his eyes on you since we're arrived", her cousin told her.
"Oh keep quiet, what can he find cute about me?" Sandy replied.
"Well, you're pretty. Go ahead, I'm sure he'll be very happy to talk to you"
"Wha...? You're crazy! I don't even know him."
"If you want to know him, you have to talk."
Suddenly, the boy walked in their direction.
"Hey girls!" he said.
He had a smile that makes any girls crazy.
"How you doin'?"
"Fine thanks"
"Oh my... Sandy, I forgot my dance lessons. I'd better be there or my father's gonna kill me." her cousin said.
"What a liar! She doesn't take some of those stupid dance lessons. She does this just to make me embarrassed in front of this guy" she told to herself.
Anyway, her cousin has already left for home.
"Too bad, I'm gonna take both of you for an ice cream... wanna come?" he asked.
"Well... Yeah, of course." Sandy replied.
"Cool... By the way, I'm Danny."
"Nice to meet you... I'm Sandy, I'm here in vacations with my parents."
"That's nice. You have a pretty name."
"Thank you." Sandy said, shy.
While they were eating their ice cream, Danny wanted to know more about this girl.
"So you're really in vacations with your parents? Where do you come from?" he asked.
"Sydney, Australia."
"Boy, that's not next door." he laughed.
Later, they walked in direction of Sandy's house. When they arrived, Danny invited her to meet at the beach tomorrow night around 8 o'clock.
"Ok, I'll be there. Bye." she said.
"See you! Goodnight pretty."
Her heart was beating so fast, she really fell in love with him. Then, he left after Sandy was inside. The next day, Sandy arrived at beach around 7 o'clock, she was so excited about the idea of seeing Danny again. Thirty minutes later, Danny arrived behind her.
"Hey Sandy!"
She turned around and saw him.
"Hi!"
"You're waiting for a long time?" he asked.
"Not really, about 5 minutes maybe."
He knows that wasn't true, he watched her since she arrived.
That night, they had their first kiss.
"I love you." Danny said.
"Me too" she replied.
They seeing each other all days but the vacations came to an end and Sandy have to go back in Australia. But they promise to write letters until the next summer.
