Silver Eyes, Crimson Retribution

By Major Mike Powell III

All Hell was breaking loose. The biggest battle in the history of Remnant raged on all around them. Huntsmen and Huntresses fighting against a seemingly never-ending wave of Grimm.

When the ringing in her ears finally stopped and she was able to hear things other than her own frenetic heartbeat in her ears, Ruby Rose used the hilt of her ever-trusty, old reliable partner, Crescent Rose's grip as a cane to try and get herself back up to her feet.

Ruby grit her teeth, almost feeling her gums bleed by the sheer pressure of her teeth grinding.

The instincts of her heritage of Silver Eyes tugged at her heart and soul, and she feared what would happen if she truly let loose here, in this Hell on Remnant, should she lose herself and attack any that stood in her path, be it Grimm or her friends.

One person was responsible for this, and she stood on the tallest surviving building in the area, her crimson-clad body relaxed and calm, idly running her index finger on the razor's edge of her blade. Those smoldering, wicked golden eyes gazed down at Ruby from her perch overlooking the carnage.

"Ruby, c'mon! You have to let go!"

"Rubes, don't worry! We got this! She wants you! Go kick her ass!"

"Ruby, you know you're the only one that stands a chance against her! Don't worry! We'll keep the Grimm off your back!"

Ruby looked back at her friends, her comrades. Her team.

"Ruby!" And then, there was Jaune, standing before her, his hand open for her to take and fully get herself back up. The young man's eyes burned with tears he refused to shed as well as sorrow at what he once had for the most fleeting instant, long ago. "You can do this. You have to do it. For Pyrrha!"

The scythe-wielding Huntress felt tears of her own slip from her eyes, silver tears that she felt cleansing her blood-stained cheeks.

She took Jaune's hand and nodded. He returned the gesture and then, looked back at their comrades.

Sharing a nod, they used their combined strength to practically blast Ruby so that she could land on top of the structure in a single bound, landing on the cracked stone softly, almost without a sound.

The tears remained on Ruby's face and her eyes shone with nigh-blinding silver light. She remained calm and stoic, her lips a thin line.

Cinder's smile only widened as she gazed at the Silver-Eyed warrior standing before her.

"Come, Little Red. Let's dance one last time~"

And then, Ruby let loose.

Silver Eyes

When Ruby could think clearly again, when she was herself again, the two final strikes had been delivered.

A horizontal slash that sliced Cinder's chest open at the collarbone and then, a twirl of Crescent Rose, a downward strike that impaled Cinder to the ground: the Silver Eyed Reaper's scythe pinning Cinder to the ground via the blade to the heart.

Blood splashed onto Ruby's face as she stood, hunched over Cinder, her hands gripping Crescent Rose so hard, she could almost hear the pole arm cracking under her palms.

Her face lowered for a better, closer look at her kill, Ruby's silver eyes stared into Cinder's golden orbs, keeping quiet, breathing through her nose as she witnessed the smoldering cinders turning to cold ashes.

And even then, in her final moments, Cinder Fall still smiled away.

Blood oozing from the corner of her mouth, Cinder spoke, even lifting one hand with waning strength as the life bled out of her, to tenderly cup Ruby's cheek. She caressed the streaks of silver tears with the pad of her thumb.

"This...this...haaaahhh...this is exactly what...just what I wanted before...before I died...to see the real you, Little...Red...I..." Her hand fell, useless to the side. "Thank...you..." And so it was, that Cinder Fall fell.

With a squelching sound, Ruby pulled Crescent Rose's blade from Cinder's impaled heart and then, the silver-eyed girl gently closed Cinder's empty, cold eyes in a simple, heartfelt show of respect for the dead.

When she turned around, she saw everyone standing behind her with solemn smiles on their faces. Then, Ruby gave a nod and slapped a new mag into Crescent Rose's bullet chamber.

"Come on. We're not finished yet. This fight isn't over. We still have to deal with her. Let's go!"

Crimson Retribution

Shout-out and thank you to Kamen Rider Omega for lending me his ear so that I could improvise-write this little drabble on chat. I also will take the chance to plug his story for you guys and girls to read. "Remnants of Love" is a great story that Omega-kun just started earlier this month, and I can't recommend it enough for you guys. It's a really sweet, fluffy one-shot collection. ;3

And as for thishere drabble? Well…it's just something that I honestly hope takes place in Volume 4 of "RWBY". There's no crime in hopin', is there? :3

Last but not least: this is a one-shot and there will not be a sequel or another chapter or anything. This story is over and I will not appreciate one-liner "reviews" begging for more of this story. So, if whoever is reading and wants to review with a "Update nao plz!" or "Moar nao plz!" or anything of the sort, then please don't review at all.

Thank you and have a nice day, ya'll.

Semper-Fi! Carry on!
