Her eyes imagined a rainbow, a sea, a sparkling white heaven. Her eyes imagined walking into Light's arms.
Her feet began to walk from a rooftop, to the hard ground below.
She knew Light was dead. She didn't have to see him, didn't have to hear about it. She knew. In her heart.
Light was dead. And he wasn't coming back.
If that wasn't enough she received a phonecall from a young boy, stating that Light was in fact dead. Stating that she was the second Kira, who would be dealt with, and that they now had the Notebooks.
Misa's life was over.
Ryuk had probably left. Enough humans even for a Shinigami's lifetime, she thought in an echo of her mind. In a few moments it wouldn't matter.
Her eyes caught the real surroundings and for a moment she stumbled forward in fright but she kept her balance. Even if she was going to kill herself she was going to do it on her terms.
She was not going to be afraid.
In her mind she was going to join Light once more.
And be happy.
She closed her eyes and accepted her fate. Only to be hit on the head by something which made her open her eyes so fast that she darted backward, and fell safely onto the middle of the rooftop.
She found the object soon after, refusing to look over the edge. It was a tiny eraser, with the same handwriting Light's notebook had.
A trick?
Ryuk's spine-chilling gravel of a voice chuckled in the wind, like an echo : "With this, you can bring him back!" Followed by laughter.
It hurt her so much. She tried to put it out of her mind, thinking that if he came back he would only be a mindless zombie. He would never be Light.
He couldn't be Light. Not her Light. Her Light wasn't coming back.
Light was dead, and she was going to die one way or another. If Near killed Light then Misa would be next. At least, she thought that in her mind.
Even if she could survive, and reach Light in time she didn't have the notebook. She couldn't erase his name. She couldn't get the notebook to do it.
It was pointless.
Life was futile.
And a step was all the future she had left.
A world without Light wasn't worth it.
So she accepted.
And fell to her death.
