Hope

/For Jess/ Korra needs some reminding, and Asami's more than happy to oblige. [Korra/Asami] Set at the end of Book 3. Drabble.

"Korra?" Her voice is quiet, hesitant, but it breaks the silence, so Korra brings herself to look at her. "You're going to be okay."

The Avatar raises an eyebrow, her expression otherwise blank. Hopeless. How could Asami say that? Her life was falling apart.

Asami looks her dead in the eye, gently lacing their fingers together and giving her hand a squeeze. A lover's touch. "I struggled too, when my dad was arrested, and I was all alone. I didn't know how anything could ever be okay. But I promise you Korra, just - just hold on. Be hopeful. Pain ends someday, I promise."

If it was anyone else, Korra would say they were lying. That the promise can never be true. But this was Asami. Korra smiles a little. A little bit of light comes back into her eyes. Somehow, she believes it's true. "Okay," she says simply.

Asami presses a kiss to her forehead. "I know I won't be able to be with you every step of the way, that some parts you'll need to take alone. I know I did. But whenever you need me, all you have to do is say so."

Three years later, aboard a train with Kuvira's supporters attacking, Korra takes her up on that offer, and Asami is more than happy to oblige. And after that, well... she never plans on letting her girlfriend go ever again, and Korra's just fine with that.

So... something sad has happened in the fandom. A Korrasami shipper by the name of Jess has made an attempt to take her life. And just - I wanted to do something about it. I think the best thing we can do is show an out pour of support. We may all ship different things, but we're one fandom, and no one gets left behind.

Jess. You are loved and important, so keep fighting. Hold on a little longer - the pain will end, and a beautiful, wonderful, strong young woman will be standing here in a beautiful world, ready to make it an even better place just by existing.

Please keep Jess and her family in your thoughts and prayers.
