"Vortex exit imminent. Destination- 12,000 AD..."

"Ceege... I know that Ethan, Emily, Squibs, and I were your crew mates, a vital part to this mission, and your best friends, but why would your father request to meet with us in person?"

"For that very reason, Luis," mission commander Cassiopeia Gaia, otherwise known as CG or Ceege, replied. "If it wasn't for the Squibbon, I wouldn't have met you three. The smartest, kindest, and funniest human beings I have ever known aside from my father, my instructors, and a select group of peers back home."

Ethan gave a contemptuous snort, "I mean no disrespect, CG, but I honestly can't see your old man being kind nor funny... Smart? Cold? An overprotective, arrogant pain in the-"

"You have to understand, Ethan, that I am his only child AND his last surviving relative," the girl turned in her chair to glare at him, and he immediately shut up. "My mother died not too shortly after giving birth to me, both sets of my grandparents have long been deceased, and my uncle was killed in an explosion. So my father has every reason to be overprotective and strict."

She sighed, "I know he could come off as intimidating on the Time Telecommunicator, but I can assure you that, once you meet him and get to know him a little better, Linussania Gaia is actually a caring, humorous man. If you treat him with respect, listen while he's talking, and talk to him, he'll treat you the same."

fffffsssst-PSSSSSH

"Vortex exit successful..."

"Whoa! Guys! Check it out!"

Luis, Ethan, Emily, and Squibbon crowded around their friend as the Timeflyer descended onto a landing pad. Snowflakes the size of a quarter flew by at a rate of 45 miles an hour and, standing in the middle of the flurry 120 feet below them, was a tall, muscular, bearded man with tan skin and silver-white hair wearing a light blue jumpsuit.

BOOM

Once the ship had landed, CG closed her eyes and inhaled deeply while Luis came up from behind and massaged her shoulders, "Ceege? You alright?"

"Cassiopeia. You are about to become the first human to explore the future. I am... proud of you."

"I shall miss you too, Father..."

She opened her eyes as soon as she heard something- or someONE- pounding on the Timeflyer from outside, "Yes. I am quite well," before pressing a button to open the rear hatch.

'I know you haven't seen your father in a hundred million years, but you need to get ahold of yourself... Don't let your emotions get the best of you. Let him make the first move...'

The sound of footsteps coming up the stairs could be heard, and, "Welcome, Professor Gaia," the doors opened to reveal the man. He gave a small smile and bowed his head out of respect, "Greetings, crew and-"

He paused, wide eyed, when he saw his daughter stand from the pilot's seat and return the longing gaze, "Cassiopeia..."

Luis quickly backed away from his commander, "She's all yours, Sir," and joined his friends to watch as the professor cautiously approached his child- reaching out to her- before wrapping his arms around her and pulling her into him.

"Oh, Cassiopeia! Oh, my dear daughter!"

CG was taken aback at first, but eventually buried her head deep into his chest and smiled with tears threatening to fall- relieved that she was, once again, able to hear his heartbeat and breath in his scent. After being gone for so long... The same could be said for Linussania, who missed the days of being able to hold her in just his hands and watch her squirm, kick, and root, hear her wails, coos, and babbling, and show her off to the other officials of the Federation of Time-Space Exploration.

'She is just a child, Linus, and the only thing you have left of Nevaeh! Yet you've treated her like an adult ever since she was able to walk and talk?! What the Hell is wrong with you?!'

"Father? Are you alright?"

He realized that his eyes were watering, and quickly wiped the tears away, "Yes. I am well. Just... glad that you are back home safe."

'Just tell her how you really feel, idiot!'

He shook his head and stepped away from his daughter, "W- we should head inside... All of you are going to want to wear your jumpsuits, and the Squibbon will need to wear a stocking cap. The temperatures can plummet to 60 below at night. There is also much to be done before our conference with my colleagues."

The four teens and Squibby threw quizzical, anxious glances at one another. They would be sitting... in the middle of a meeting... between Professor Gaia, CG, and several other scientists...

Uh, oh! What is there to be done before the conference? What will be discussed, and how will it go over?! Stay tuned for Chapter 2!

I'd also like to thank @Wildgirl6 for giving me permission to use her idea of what Professor Gaia's first name should be, and giving me ideas! I really hope this goes over a LOT better than the fanfics I've worked on in the past!
