Flynn grinned at Rapunzel's stunned expression as she gazed up at his mother on the balcony. Lady Marie was a flurry of red and purple silks. Her raven hair a blistering wave on the afternoon breeze.

"She's your mother?" Rapunzel exclaimed. Mesmerise by his mother as she waved down at the people, beside her Rapunzel's parents stood, every bit the regal King and Queen.

"Yep, guess you now know where I get my dramatic flair!" He remarked his arms folded across the embroidered green of his vest and sash. A smug expression upon his face.

Rapunzel seemed not to be listening to him and he didn't blame her. Knowing that most likely had the same look upon his face when he'd discovered Lady Marie – extravagant, caring and whirlwind of a woman – was his mother!

For a moment he grew thoughtful. Though in a sarcastic fashion as he continued to speak to a distracted Rapunzel.

"You know I could swear I've heard that expression before. I seem to recall reading about the adventures of a young Viking how his true love expressed the very same reaction to meeting his mother as you do now. Then he'd flippantly replied that it was from his mother that he must have gotten his dramatic flair! Ha! Small world huh, blondie?"

Still with her eyes upon the raven beauty Rapunzel didn't reply. Giving a short grasping laugh at the sight she posed.

Smiling Flynn took her by the arm gently.

"Come on, Blondie. Let's go meet my mother."

This, however, seemed to break her from her trance as they headed to the grand doors beneath the balcony that would lead them to their parents. Rapunzel drew to a stop tugging free of his gentle hold.

"What!? No I'm not dressed right, and my hair!" She exclaimed in terror as she began to grow a deep shade of red in her sweet cheeks and her eyes grew round with fright. Flynn gazed at her with wounder, ever amazed at how she set his heart alight with her sweet, giddy nature.

Though he knew she also possessed a fierce strength and courage. His head could still recall the force of her more intense side, form the first time they'd met. He'd never again been able to look at a fry pan without wincing at the memory.

Right now he smiled reassuringly. Reclaiming her arm as he tugged her along. Out of the mists of crowd and through the doors.

"You look fine." Better than fine! He thought for a moment taking a second to appreciate the soft red silk that fit so splendidly to her curves, falling to a flowing array of lace and embroidered rosed hem at her ankles. Short enough to reveal that the young princes still preferred to remain barefoot.

Her short brunette hair flicked out all atop her hair and the very crown he'd once stolen from the castle sat regally upon her dark curls. The entire picture she painted was breath taking and somehow the sweetest kind of sweet there ever was. From her bouncing, giddy nature, and fry pan swinging temper, to her delicate bare feet. He love every precious sweet inch of her. Loved her like he had never thought possible. Content to live out his life alone and on an inland surround by nothing but open seas and bags of gold, he'd been more than taken-aback when he'd meet Rapunzel.

"Fine!" She almost screeched in panic. "Fine! – Your mother is the Lady Marie! And you think I can meet her looking fine!" She drew to a stop once more and begun to run her fingers through her short hair.

Flynn's heart tightened at the sight of her distress even as he laughed at her antics. He too stopped and turned her into his arms. His hands stroking her hair, soothingly. Forcing her to stop her assault upon the fine curls as she clutched to his chest instead of tugging at her hair.

"Blondie, you look more than fine. She's my mother, she will love you like I do. I just know it. You could meet her covered in mud with twigs sticking out of your hair and she would still love you."

Just then pascal emerged from her cluster of hair at her shoulder and gave an agreeing and encouraging smile as he nudged Rapunzel's chin lovingly.

Were they right?

Was it all really irrelevant any way….
