Things had been difficult for the past few months with Rachel and Puck. He knew she would be leaving; he also knew he could make her stay if he really tried to. He tried to act like things were normal. He would still bug her any chance he could get. He would do things just for the pure enjoyment of seeing her reaction.

It was like any other night, he thought when he drove up to her house. Except the way he felt going to her house wasn't like any other night. He could feel the tenseness in the air. He could feel her sitting in her room looking at the pictures again. He knew she would be putting things in boxes again. He knew he had done something, or rather hadn't done something by the way she barely talked to him when they laid on her bed together.

She just wanted him to know that she would stay if he asked. She wanted him to want her to be there forever. She should have expected he wouldn't though. He was never one to beg, and she knew that. She just hoped that maybe he loved her enough to not want to let her go.

Things were like that for the next week, and neither one of them wanted to continue that way. They didn't want to spend their last weeks together that way. She wished he had realized it when it wasn't one in the morning and pouring down raining.

"Don't leave me yet" Puck yelled through the rain.

"Yet? What does that mean? Does that mean you just want more time with me now? Do you just want to make sure you finish what you started and then someone else can have me? Do you even love me?" Rachel yelled at him in anger and through hurt.

"Of course I do. Do you think I would be here in this rain if I didn't love you?" He said back to her in anger. How could she question his love for her? He had done everything for her. Everything but tell her that he needed her to stay with him. He did everything to push her away and still expected her to be waiting for him.

"Then let me go. I need to see if I can live without you, otherwise neither of us will be happy. You haven't exactly been begging me to stay. Why now? What makes tonight any different?" Now she was in tears.

He tried to hug her but she just pushed him away and went inside. He didn't try to come back, because he knew she was right. What made that night different. He didn't really tell her that anything would change if she stayed. He didn't want her to leave, but now he knew she would never be happy if she didn't leave.

She was headed to the airport when she got his text. She didn't want to open it when she saw his name on the screen but she did anyway. All it said was "Don't forget about me when you are famous." She knew she would never forget him.

When she made it big time, she wondered whether or not she would have been happier if he had begged her to stay. He regretted the fact that he never told her to stay almost every second of every day. He knew it would have been the right thing to do as well as the best thing to do for him and maybe even her. But now they would never know.
