Hello reader, and merry christmas!

You've read the title, and now i'm gonna give my thoughts on the movie when I first saw it on monday, as a present to you all from me to you.

Note: No spoilers in this for those of you who are wondering.

Disclaimer: I do not own the franchise or this movie, it belongs to LucasFilm.

ENJOY!

The Story

Okay, i'm gonna just give a quick run of the plot.

The story takes place after the events of the original trilogy, (1, 2 and 3) where we are introduced to two new protaginists: Fin and Rei, who helps the rebel forces along with Han Solo, Chewy and Leia to stop the new bad guys known as The First Order, before they destroy many planets and take over the universe.

Will they succeed in their mission? Or will the universe fall to the dark side?

Now, obviously this isn't evertything that happens in the movie, but it is all I can so as not to spoil it, for those who have not seen the movie. But I can tell you, that it is definetly interesting as the movie goes on and isn't too complicated either, nor too easy either.

It's just right.

The Good

*The music throughout is the same glorious and epic tunes that were in the previous movies: really getting you pumped for action, makes you smile and even tear up a little at times too.

So yeah, love it!

*It looks beautiful, and the CGI is some of the best i've seen this year. The battle scenes look absolutely gorgeous throughout the entire film and never once do they look horrible or make me want to bleach my eyes afterwards.

They even use actual settings as well for the planets like the desserts and forests.

Sweet!

*Characters in this movie, both old and new, get a good lot of development and we learn quite a lot about them. My personal favourite is Fin, going from a new Storm Trooper recruit to an ally for the rebels and even makes friends as well.

You really feel for these characters, especially when things get bad later in the 3rd act. They are all very well acted and it really gets you invested in these characters, even the villains.

I will not forget these characters anytime soon, and i'm excited to see where they go from here.

*The references to the original trilogy are very good and can even be funny too, and with that, the comedy that is in The Force Awakens is brilliant, it got a laugh out of me everytime it came along.

*The movie is much darker than the previous 6 films, and that may turn some people away from it. But for me, it was a brilliant decision to have a darker tone and it makes the sad scenes in the movie all the sad.

But again, if that isn't your thing, the movie still has some lighter moments to balance things out for you.

The Bad

*There's quite a bunch of situations in the movie that feel similar to previous moments in the franchise, specifically A New Hope...like the entire plot point with the Death Star.

Though its more of a nitpick than anything else.

*Another nitpick against the movie is that I think the ending, not spoilering anything, is kinda of a cop-out in the end. Though its still good and gets me hyped for the next two films.

In conclusion, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is an awesome film, as both a Star Wars film and on its own merits, with a few small problems here and there, but nothing so drastic that it ruins it for me.

For now, i'm giving this film:

A 9.5 out of 10!
