Only character I do own is Hannah-Beth
Miley was 2-years-old. Like any normal kid she was curious about the things around her and she would touch things. One day she touched Robby Rae's guitar.
"ROBBY RAE," Mamaw said, "DO YOU SEE WHAT YOUR DAUGHTER IS DOING?"
"Yup I sure 'nough do," Robbie Rae said
"And why are you just settin' back doing nothing. She should get a pop. She is touching a precious item of yours"
"Mom you know I love ya but Susie and I just don't believe in that kind of child rearing"
"But you were popped as a child and you are just fine," Mamaw argued.
Robbie Rae had heard that argument so many times with Hannah-Beth (6) and Jackson (4) that he had soon grown tired of it.
"That's fine mom," he said, "but Susie and I want better then fine for our children"
Ruthie rolled her eyes and walked away mumbling something about how her son had gone soft.
She didn't bring it up again.
A few days later Susie took Hannah-Beth, Jackson and Miley for a ride in the car.
As she was buckling Miley into her car seat Ruthie who happened to be there said, "the boy doesn't need to be in a car seat. The girl doesn't either. Robbie Rae was out of the car seat by the time he was 18 months old and he was fine"
"I can respect your feelings," Susie said, "however I want better then fine for my children"
"What is it with parents those days," Ruthie Rae said and walked off in a huff.
"Oh grandma's just being silly," Susie told Miley
If it wasn't raining out none of this would have happened. If the breaks had been working a little better none of this would have happened. If Miley hadn't gotten fussy none of this would have happened. In a flash Susie lost control of the car.
Miley and Jackson both safe in their car seats were okay. Susie was gone on impact. Hannah-Beth died moments later. Miley started fussing.
"It's okay Miwee," Jackson said, "daddy will be here soon and I take cawe of you. I always wove you Miwee"
A few days later was the funeral. Ruthie Rae came up to Robbie when he was saying goodbye to Susie.
"Robbie," she said, "I'm sorry"
"Thanks mom"
"I see what you mean when you said you wanted better then fine for your children. I wanted better then fine for you and your brother too. I guess I did what I know was best at the time but it's not best no'werdays"
Epilogue
Jackson kept his promise to always love his sister though you'd never know it from the way they fight
