Façade

Ryan was not half of what he pretended to be. He was somewhat naïve still, he knew, but he was trying his best to get better. He wanted to be worthy of his team. Only he had made it to the team too late. Speed was gone and he was left alone to face a bitter and angry team who wanted no more than to hurt him in any way possible to take away some of the hurt. He had dealt with each blow as they came, trusting only Jasmine with his pain. He knew it was selfish of him and that she worried herself for the smallest reasons, but he needed to talk to someone. His best friend was gone and instead of finding comfort with the people who his best friend had loved so well and told him to be wonderful people, he was left with people who hated him for no other reason than existing. What did they really know about him? They knew nothing about him yet they still assumed they knew him, knew what he was all about. They did not know him and they had no right to judge him. He just wished he had the courage to tell them that to their face. Every time he thought about confronting them he was left with nothing but a desire to stop the constant belittling and humiliation. They hated him and treated him like dirt.

Every time they had a case he was forced to get all of the evidence he could on his own given that Erik and Calleigh refused to work with him on anything unless it was specifically ordered by Horatio. Not that he was any better. On a small level he knew that he was being a coward and that he should stand up for himself and at the very least work out something to make their jobs bare able, but he could simply not bring himself to confront them. Every time he tried he wound up saying something stupid that left them hating more or simply thinking he was an idiot who only got his position because of something like money or sex.

He had worked hard to get where he was at and to be accepted into the CSI. Despite everything he had tried to maintain his confidence in his abilities only to have that confidence only torn to shreds by a team who thought nothing og him and purposely excluding him from all of the cases and the little family they had build. He did not care much for them accepting him into their family, he just wanted respect and maybe friendship. He could not understand why so many other people at Miami Pd labs liked him and trusted him to do his job but his own team could not even look at him without some negative emotion in their eyes. He was reaching a point where he could simply not handle their constant abuse any longer. The only thing holding him there was the promise he had made to Speed. He had promised that he would stay on the team as long as he could take and if he was not happy he would simply transfer. But he had promised to stay for at least for three years and no matter how short four months seemed it all seemed so far away.

"Wolfe, Horatio wants you in the conference room." Ryan looked up as he heard Erik address him coldly. Wincing slightly he could not keep the sadness out of his eyes as he was Erik walk away. You will love Erik. He is an amazing friend and an amazing person. He has a heart of gold. Recalling the words of his best friend he could not help but smile sadly as he thought of how wrong Timmy had been. There was nothing good in the heart of Erik Delko. There was nothing good in the hearts of anyone on the Miami-Dade CSI team.

This clawed its way to the surface as I was doing laps in the pool. It has since refused to stop bugging me. Hope you guys enjoy this story and please, if I messed something up, be nice. I have never written anything for CSI:Miami.
