Chapter One
Jett stared out of the taxi at the surrounding foliage. Everything looked green and mushy because of the
rain. Forks, Washington was one of the rainiest places in America, something that didn't seem to bother
Jett much. She had never been a sun and sports kind of girl. Sure, she didn't mind running or swimming,
and hiking was okay; but if she tried any or sport she would end up hurting herself or someone in the
surrounding area.
Jett wasn't exceptionally beautiful, but she was very pretty, which she always denied. She had long wavy
ebony hair that fell to the small of her back. And to make it unique she had dyed in streaks of neon green,
her favorite color besides black. Her skin looked like porcelain, and seemed just as fragile. Her eyes were
the prettiest part about her, and the only part she seemed to like about herself. They were the clearest
brightest blue anyone had ever seen before. When people saw her that's what the they complimented the
most.
"Here we are," said the taxi man. Jett forked over a wad of cash and told the man to keep the change. Jett
stared up at the house that looked more like a mansion. Most of it was white and glass windows. Jett
walked up to the front door and knocked softly, knowing she could be heard.
The door opened as soon as Jett pulled her hand away. In front of her stood an unnaturally beautiful
woman with medium-length honey-brown hair and golden eyes. "Hello Aunt Esme," Jett said with a sad
smile.
