Cloud's POV
Tifa just…didn't get me. I could see her trying to help me, but it just wasn't worth the effort. I wasn't worth the effort. And I was a terrible person at that. I let 2 of my friends die, one of which had been the second most important person in my life. The first still existed, but I just couldn't bring myself to tell her my feelings for her. She's been my best friend for so many years, and I would just ruin thing if I told her. She probably didn't feel the same way about me anyways, I wasn't worth love. She would just be wasting her time if she tried. I heard the phone ring and Tifa's voice answering it. Someone probably needed another delivery so I began to head down the stairs.
"Cloud, there's a delivery in Midgar you need to make."
"Where at?"
"The post office, Reno will be waiting for you there to pick it up."
"Okay Tifa, I'll be back later, don't wait for me." Not that she should, but then she put her hand on his shoulder and said
"Cloud, I think we need to talk. Maybe not tonight, but sometime soon. Okay?"
"Sure Tifa." And then I left for Midgar.
* * * *
I returned around 11. Nobody was around so I put my motorcycle in the garage quietly, assuming that everyone was sleeping. There were no lights on in the house so nobody was up. That was good because it meant I didn't have to talk with Tifa about the problem. But then I felt somewhat upset because I always enjoyed talking to Tifa over everything. She had helped me through everything I was going through. When I lost Zach and Aeris, she was there for me. I don't think I could ask for a better friend. Then a pain shot through my stomach when I thought the word "friend." I wanted Tifa to be more than that, but I know that she doesn't harbor the same feelings for me. I figured I depressed myself for one night and I slowly and quietly took my boots off but the second that the first one hit the floor, the lights were flipped on and there stood Tifa in the doorway.
"I'm sorry Tifa, I didn't mean to wake you."
"Oh you didn't Cloud, I was having a hard time sleeping anyways. Hey Cloud, can I ask you something real quick?"
"Of course Tifa, anything." She began to walk towards me and I felt my heart skip a beat. I wanted so badly to tell her, right then and there that I loved her but I had to keep focused. I watched her look at her feet and begin to blush, what in the world was she thinking about? Could she possibly be thinking the same as me? There was only one way to find out and I took that chance. I lifted her chin up with two fingers and looked into her eyes for a brief moment to see what they were saying. And that was the exact same thing I was so with adrenaline pumping through my veins and my heart skipping at what felt like 100 miles an hour, I kissed Tifa at exactly 12 o'clock midnight.
